Xbox one controller sluggish on returning to center

Log in with your account on xbox.com/live

Then go to the support section and register Your XBOX ONE.

Go to the repair section myservice.xbox.com and request a return for your controller.

You will receive packaging instructions.

Follow the instructions and sent the controller to the repair center.

You will receive a new controller within 20 business days.

Unfortunately you cannot use a 360 controller with an Xbox One. But I suggest you return to the store/retailer and speak with there customer service center. Many major retailers retain copies of receipts/cards and can issue refunds at times without.

This is a problem that afflicts many players, and it happened to me with the Halo controller I couldn't do anything, if yours is still under warranty, send it to assistance to have it repaired or replaced.

I too have had these issues with multiple Microsoft brand and third party controllers . It is
not your dead zone settings, but more along the lines of the bands (rubber) that gives the sticks resistance and returned it to their 0y0x state. The bands wear out and lose their elasticity. Also, sometimes, if you slowly rotate the stick(s)
at their outer most circumference, you may feel a notch or divet, it is a result of, but not limited to ;

1) The plastic peg the joy stick mounts on to engage the positioning of the modulator. or

2) Excess wear from constant or prolonged pressure in that general area.

There are many alternatives to solves these and alike issues, which may include, but I
do not recommend in lieu of voiding your warranty.

Buying a set of joy stick modules, replace repair yourself, for temporary use until replacement.

Microsoft does recommend not buying third-party controllers but is also another cheap alternative.

I know this is an excessive amount of writing, but I do hope this may help guide you in the right direction.
