    Xbox one controller power on problem


    I have been using the same wireless controller and rechargeable battery pack for about a year now. Out of no where I lost the ability to turn on the controller when it is unplugged. I’ve charged the batteries and tried again with no luck after multiple attempts. If the controller is plugged in it turns on just fine and then I can unplug it and it stays on and works. I’m pretty confused.

    I believe it is a physical defect, but to be sure it is necessary to take it to a technician to identify the defect, microsoft only performs repair in control with a maximum of 90 days after purchase.

    Hi, power the xbox and controller on, then press and hold the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds.

    When the xbox powers off pull the power cord out of the back of the xbox and wait two minutes. Reconnect the power cord and press the power button on the xbox to power it on. Power on the controller and then try using the controller to power on/off the xbox.
    This solution worked. Thank you!

    For anyone else reading having this issue, I still had to re-sync the controller after going through the above process, in order to solve that problem. After turning on the Xbox one with the power button sync it the normal way by hitting the sync button
    on the front of the Xbox One S, and then holding the sync button on top of the controller. Thereafter, the guide button on the controller will power on the console.

    However, the above solution did immediately fix the fact that the controller wouldn't turn off when I powered the console off.

    Are there multiple controllers connected to the Xbox, maybe one of them is causing the problem. I would recommend a power reset (holding down the power button for a couple seconds). Strat it back up and see if this fixes the problem.

    I don't believe it is possible to remap the buttons of a third party controller. Only Microsoft controllers will be able to do that.

    So, I see we are the only two people with the Xbox One X that are having this problem. One question I have for you, are you using the Elite controller? It seems Xbox support has no answers except to power down, power up, reboot the router, make sure everything
    is upgraded, on one leg and swing a rubber chicken over your head, etc... The only time I have this problem of no response is when using the Elite controller with the X. When I switch over to the standard controller I have no problem. If I use the Elite on
