Xbox One controller on Win 10 Forgets the Xbox Adapter for Windows

Sometimes when having restarted my Win 10 machine the Xbox wireless adapter for windows have forgotten my controller and I have to re-sync it. Annoying issue that I assume can be resolved by a driver and/or controller firmware update. Also. When this happens
the controller has issues syncing with the adapter. Or the other way around. The controller works just fine when it is synced. Still waiting for a feature in the xbox accessories app on windows to let me update the controller firmware since I don't own an
    Xbox.

    :)

Xbox One controller on Win 10 Forgets the Xbox Adapter for Windows [IMG]

In June, we announced the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows as part of our commitment for designing Xbox accessories to support both Xbox and Windows. Today, we’re excited to share that we’ve started to ship to retailers in most markets around the world, including the U.S.

With the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, you’ll simply plug the Adapter into the USB 2.0 or 3.0 port of your Windows 10 PC laptop or tablet and bind the Adapter to your Wireless Controller to enable the same gaming experience you’re used to on Xbox One, including in-game chat and high-quality stereo audio. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows accommodates up to eight controllers per unit, and up to four chat headsets or two stereo headsets.

If you haven’t had a chance to try game streaming just yet, check out these step-by-step instructions. And be sure to try some of this year’s blockbuster games with built-in controller support including Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, andFable Legends.

The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows will be available for $24.99 USD (MSRP) or bundled with an Xbox One Wireless Controller for $79.95 USD (MSRP).

  3. Xbox app streaming not (any longer) supports two controllers ?

I am connecting two Xbox one wireless controllers through an Xbox Wireless Adapter to a Windows 10 PC, and always playing my Xbox one console games on Win 10 by streaming, and those all went right and smooth, until the recent updates.

Now, with the latest updates of both the Xbox one console firmware ( 10.0.15063.3054/rs2_release_xbox_1705.170512-1759 ) and the Xbox App ( 29.29.17002.00000 ), only one ( the first working one when streaming starts ) controller is usable in streaming. No
matter in the home page or in game, only one controller is recognized by the console.

The two controllers are the original first gen Xbox one controllers (without 3.5mm jacks), both individually properly recognized by Windows 10 ( Win 10 Pro 1703/15063.296 ) and works well, even inside the Xbox app itself, except streaming.

    Any suggestions?

Xbox One controller on Win 10 Forgets the Xbox Adapter for Windows

Well DuckierTerror41 you're not alone, I've already contacted support about this issue but the support (The Netherlands) doesn't seem to have the hardware and they're claiming to have it before they do. But anyways, I've got the same issue and also got some
extra issue regarding keeping the connection alive. I've tried a lot of things but i feel like I've just purchased 120 euro's worth of junk. I've manged to record the issue i'm having.

I checked the video, some points that I noted... Seems you're using a keyboard USB for this? Is that true? Also it seemed that there wasn't enough time being given to the controller to pair to the adapter, before the adapter was unplugged. Regardless one
quick and easy way to get the device paired is to plug in an adapter, then plug in your controller through a wired USB. The driver stack will automatically pair it to the plugged in adapter so that when you unplug the wired controller, it will bind to the
adapter. This is exactly how it is on the Xbox console.

Not being able to connect or dropping connections usually indicates an extensively noisy radio area. The Xbox adapter will try and navigate away from any existing Xbox channels in your vicinity, and with areas that have low noise. Sometimes this means going
into the 2.4Ghz range, which is extremely noisy anyways from other devices.

    cy43rguru,

I've connected it to the keyboard because it has an decent 5V output and works just as well as the ports on the motherboard. Changing ports doesn't help. The thing is, it PAIRS, but within a decent amount of time will LOSE the connection, even though it's
paired. Sometimes i can play for 30 minutes and it loses connection, other days i can't even connect the controller because they can't seem to pair up. The thing is, i don't have a lot of noise on the 2.4Ghz range (i'm busy building a new network so i've checked
that). You provide me with exactly 0 controls over the controller and/or usb stick. The "Xbox Accessories" app performed an firmware update for me (magically) but that also didn't seem to help. The way you provide the tools for the user is absolutely ridiculous,
from the support pages to getting the Xbox app from the appstore (not a single .exe file). I've paid 120,- euro's for a controller that doesn't even function properly. I want this thing sorted ASAP.

    Oh, and also ct43guru.

Automatic switching between OMTP and CTIA doesn't seem to happen when plugging in iPhone compatible earbuds (Shure SE215 with iPhone cord). A OMTP to CTIA (and reverse) doesn't seem to make the microphone to work. While plugging in cheap *** earbuds does.
This should also be handled by the firmware (the PS4 controller does this just fine). Another thing that *** me off right of the bat.

  8. Xbox One controller on Win 10 Forgets the Xbox Adapter for Windows

I have been having the same issue. Whenever I reboot my PC, the adapter has lost the pairing to the controller (a Day 1 edition). I have verified that the firmware is updated, and I encounter constant issues when attempting to pair the devices. It will eventually
work, but on a seemingly random basis. Am I missing a step?

I am seeing the same issue on Windows 10. After shutting off my PC, I have to re-sync my wireless adapter with my XboxOne controller. In fact, I have to disconnect the wireless adapter from the USB port and reconnect for it to sync up. As OP said, controller
does work fine when it is synced.

(At first I thought it was an USB port issue, but all my other devices: mouse, Steam controller, PS4 wireless headset, all work perfectly fine in the various ports.)

    Thanks

For pairing problems, as I mentioned above one quick and easy way to get the device paired is to plug in an adapter, then plug in your controller through a wired USB. The driver stack will automatically pair it to the plugged in adapter so that when you
unplug the wired controller, it will bind to the adapter. This is exactly how it is on the Xbox console.

Regarding not syncing after say a reboot, please bear in mind though that the controller can only "remember" one adapter at a time, which means plugging in to a console or binding/pairing to a console or to another PC adapter, will erase the controller's
memory of the adapter it was originally bound to.

Usually if the controller has not been repaired, an unplug/replug of the adapter is enough to reset it.

Thanks for the feedback.. A little more detail:

My wireless adapter is always attached to my PC. (I don't have an XboxOne). It's after a power cycle where the sync is completely lost. I have to unplug and reinsert the adapter for it to work, so it seems as if the PC "forgot" the adapter was even attached
    after a power cycle.

So, considering I always have the adapter attached to my PC, and that I only use my controller on my PC, the normal behavior should be:

    1) I turn on my PC and it gets to the Windows 10 desktop

    2) Turn on the controller

    3) The controller should automatically sync with the adapter.

    But unfortunately that doesn't happen...

  12. I am having exactly the same problem as you ChaiKootha and it is driving me absolutely nuts. It doesn't happen for me on every power cycle. It seems to happen after the computer has been left shut down for a good few hours. Almost like some charge inside
the adapter goes out and then it forgets the controller's connection to the PC. It is very immersion breaking having to unplug and replug the adapter everytime this happens to get the controller to resync. I am wondering if you ever managed to resolve this?

No - this issue seems to effect the Bluetooth pad also - windows just forgets the pairing with the controller... and then we have the randomly occurring lag issue - but that is another post...
