Xbox One Controller inoperative on PC after new update!

    Hello,

I have recently been playing on my PC with my Xbox Controllers and there hasn't been a problem until I updated them a couple hours ago (10/9/2021). After updating both controllers I tried to use them on my PC and they were having an issue connecting. After clicking to connect through Bluetooth a few times, it finally connected. The problem is that there is no input from controller. No matter what I do, I can't get the controller to work.

    I have tried:

    disabling/enabling device

    uninstalling device

checking device on Xbox through the Xbox accessories app (just tells me I'm updated already)

Both controllers work on Xbox and neither work on PC, but behave the same (Connect to Bluetooth, but buttons don't work)

Tried updating windows to latest with optional updates

    Tried restarting/shutting down several times.

Made sure the controllers were not connected to anything before connecting them to PC.

With device plugged into PC, the Accessories App on PC doesn't see the device connected

As I was writing this I had my controller plugged in and it all the sudden started working when I pressed the Xbox button...

Bluetooth still says it's connected and when I unplug the controller it goes back to not working.

So, considering that the update was for upgrading the Bluetooth system to better connect to PC's and such, I would assume this is a problem with the new update, unless I'm missing something?

    Any help would be welcomed!

    Thank you,

    :)

Hello Voltreezy! I'm Claus, an Independent Microsoft Community Consultant for Xbox! Glad to be able to help you!

Based on your report, it does seems that you might've found a bug on the new update, that is worth reporting through the Feedback Hub. You can also try to uninstall the last update. To do that, click the Start button, then go to Settings. Once the Settings app opens, click Update & Security. From the list in the center of the window, click “View update history,” then “Uninstall updates” in the top-left corner.

This will open a Control Panel window listing all the recently installed updates to your computer. By default, this list is filtered into groups and sorted with the most recent updates at the top.

Indeed, it could be that the controller update created a compatibility issue with Bluetooth. It is a good idea to keep checking for newer updates for the controller, given that if this is an actual problem that other players are facing as well, then it is likely the glitch will be fixed quickly.

Thank you for the feedback and I will enter in my feedback to the site.

Unfortunately it wasn't the windows update that screwed the controller up. It was the controller update on the Xbox. It was supposed to make it more accessible to other devices, but in turn it made Bluetooth less reliable it seems with a glitch.

    Thanks again,
