Xbox One Controller in Windows 7

    Hi,

I am trying to use the Xbox One controller in Windows 7, service pack 1. The system is updated to date, including optional updates. I have already used a friend's Xbox 360 controller with no trouble, but the Xbox One controller I purchased does not work at
    all.

When inspecting under the Device Manager, it shows up simply as "controller", with absolutely no other device information. Of course, it therefore fails to "automatically search for updates" as the driver download page says,

Connect Xbox Wireless Controller to Windows PC | Xbox One Accessories

I find it crazy that there is no direct download of the drivers.

The usual tricks (try another USB port, try restarting, try checking for more updates) have been done. I'd appreciate any solution.

    Thanks.

    :)

  2. XBOX one Controller 2015 with usb cable to win 7

    Hi,

I have a brand new xbox one Controller and try to add this Controller to Windows 7.

If I connect this Controller via usb to Windows 7, i see a unknown Controller in the Windows device Manager.

But if i try to find Driver via automatic update, no success.

If i install the device Driver xb1usb.11059.0.140526x64.msi, i see a unknown Controller in the Windows device Manager too.

It doesn't work under Windows 7. Using Windows 10 the Controller is kown and the device works.

Any idea what i should do?

Xbox One Controller in Windows 7

I also have the exact same problem. I tried to use the xbox one controller on my windows 8.1 PC and a windows 7 laptop. Both give me the exact same issue. I even went to the Microsoft store and found out that my controller works on a Windows 10 PC.

I think Microsoft removed the driver online because Windows 10 comes with the driver pre-installed on the OS. However Windows 8.1 and 7 users still need to download the driver and someone forgot about that.

Can someone at Microsoft please make the driver available online?

Home button on xbox controller in windows 7

Hi UpsyDupsy. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox Communities Forum. Please note that Windows 7 does not have full support for Xbox One controllers. As such, some features such as the Xbox button will not work. Windows 10/11 have built-in support for Xbox One controllers.

Windows 7 is no longer receiving support or updates, making your PC vulnerable to attacks. If your PC is connected to the internet, Windows 7 is not safe to use. I strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 10 or 11.

Xbox One controller doesn't work with Windows 7 laptop

the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.
That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.
