    XBOX ONE Controller guide button issue after Windows Threshold 2


    Seems that Windows 10 Threshold 2 update somewhat broke the support for third party use of XBOX One Controller guide button (for example steam big picture and controller companion) including Windows 10 own controller input of the guide button (11th button).

    If anyone is interested there is a workaround:

    Open the xbox app, turn gamedvr on, hit Win+G to open gamedvr overlay, go to gamedvr settings in that overlay, and turn off the option that opens the gamedvr with the guide button, close the gamedvr options and then turn off gamedvr from the xbox app.
    Hope that Microsoft clarify if this is a bug or a new policy (by only alowing the XBOX APP to use the guide button)

    Well, the Xbox 360 use to show battery status when you pressed the guide button, so the most logical place to implement it, would be within the Game Bar, that's used now when you press the Guide button on the XBox One Controller.

    Any indicator would at least warn you, currently if your battery is low the controller just Shuts off, no warning.

    It blows my mind that wireless controller for windows is such an after thought, they would overlook something like Battery Status.

    What I do is I turn on the Xbox by pressing the Guide button, then when I finish press the Guide button again. It then gives me 2 options, turn off the controller or turn off the console. I go for turn off the console. Then I unplug it. Then 2 weeks will
    go pass, then I'd turn it on again using the Guide button, then after about an hour maybe 2 the controller will run out of charge.

    Are you playing on Windows 10 or Xbox One?

    If on Xbox One, I would recommend checking out the
    Xbox Acessories app
    for if it's configured to open the guide when you hold the button down.

    If on Windows 10, then I would recommend checking out the Game Bar settings in Settings > Gaming > Game Bar and see if you have a shortcut set to open that app.

    Might also be an issue with the controller, where pressing the X button also inadvertently 'presses' the Guide button on the controller?
