Xbox One controller broken by Windows Anniversary Update

Xbox One controller is showing up as two in Steam. Xbox 360 wired controller works fine. I don't have option to Roll Back Driver, nor can I get the old versions of the driver that I've found on Microsoft's online catalog to reinstall as they are "unsigned"
(wtf?) and cause errors when attempting to install. I can't just drag and drop replace the files in the directory either as they are protected in a manner that I don't have authorization for. One of the biggest headaches of Windows 10 seems to not have the
privilege to be the Admin on your own system. I would really like for someone at MS to respond to this thread as it seems to be a known issue (I found this forum linked to a news article in my trouble shooting searches). If the old driver still works, just
put an update with that in it until you get the anniversary update sorted. It seems that my only solution will come in the manner of an official Windows 10 update.

hi guys, just wanna share my findings,

i notice the bug or issues occurs when u pair your pad with the wireless adapter then either shut down your pc or rebooted while your game pad is still paired and power on.

so the next reboot your adapter will have either two problems,

    1. Disconnect halfway during gameplay then unpairable

2.Adapter failed to detect by windows

    Temp solution

    Remove your adapter, reboot windows,

plug it back, pair your gamepad . Once pair, manually turn off the pad by holding the HOME button , then reboot.

And it should pair perfectly on next reboot when u power on your gamepad, but REMEMBER !!

NEVER TURN OFF YOUR PC WITH THE GAMEPAD PAIRED AND POWER ON, TURN OFF THE PAD MANUALLY before power off your pc or reboot

I been playing with mine for a week , no issue so far. Good luck , hope microsoft fix this soon.

It seems like older bluetooth (below 4.0) devices prompt the password entry and the newer ones allow pairing without it. I just hope they improve the connectivity. I'll be playing a game via bluetooth and my controls will randomly spaz out sometimes. No
reason at all. I don't have any interference or other devices with bluetooth enabled around me (yes it's off on my phone). It has also randomly disconnected a couple times now.

  5. Can anyone from Microsoft provide any updates regarding these problems?

"After the Anniversary Update, both my wireless dongle and Xbox One controller (both OEM) appear to be broken.

The dongle doesn't show up in Device manager, despite switching to different USB ports.

The gamepad now won't stay turned on, even connected via USB. Isn't detected in the "Xbox Accessories" app."

I have exactly the same problem..

Would love some input from Microsoft on this.

I am also having serious issues with my Xbox One controllers and wireless dongle after the recent Anniversary update. The controllers will only connect for a second before disconnecting. I really hope someone at Microsoft fixes this soon.

Bought two Xbox one controllers for using with bluetooth on Windows 10, I was able to get them both connected but only one worked and that one only seemed to work some of the time as well. Worked okay in Steam but tried it in UPlay and it did not work there.
Probably would have held off on buying them had I saw that these issues existed. Hopefully this gets sorted soon...

Just saw on Steam that the controller is no longer registering as two controllers (one wired and one bluetooth; which was happening a few days ago), but I still can't get this to work in a game. What's going on Microsoft?

Guys, it's been nearly a month now without a fix. Is there honestly no one responsible for the X1 controller at Microsoft that is looking into this? Is it really that low of a priority?

  12. My 2nd gen and elite controllers only sort of work wired after using an older driver, and only in some games. My wireless dongle won't even let me pair at all anymore. Works fine on another computer with Windows 8.1. I basically have 4 expensive bricks
at the moment. The lack of response on this issue is unacceptable.

I'm having the same issue with my Elite controller as well. This is kind of ridiculous considering the premium price of this controller! For a company that keeps talking up their support for PC gaming they sure are slow to fix issues with their platform...
