Xbox One controller broken by Windows Anniversary Update

Same issue for me. I'm using the revised 3.5mm jack controller. It worked fine before the update.

Xbox One Elite controller not working anymore after (failed?) Xbox Accessories firmware upgrade

Just used xbox accesories in windows 10 anniversary to update my xbox one controller and now is bricked. This is *** ridiculous.

 

Windows 10 Anniversry and Xbox One Controller error code 10

After Windows 10 updated to build is version 1607 build 14393.351,My Xbox One Controller version 10.0.14393.0 the controller stops working completely with error code 10 (The device cannot start.) and the Xbox Accessories app does not see my controller at
all. Before the Windows 10 Anniversary Update the controller, version 6.2.11059.0, was working fine in every game. Now with that version 6.2.11059.0, the controller works on some games and others are spotty, from not registering the button press to registering
maybe 1000 button presses, to not working at all. My Windows 10 build is version 1607 build 14393.351.

Is Microsoft aware of this problem? I have reported the issue. Wonder if this will ever be corrected.

I have this issue as well double input and all then if i roll back its all fine

Updated to Anv. ed and it worked for 2 hrs game play still double input in steam big picture but pc went sleep woke up and now cant connect controller grrrrrrrrr

 

Same issue for me after Windows Anniversary Update.

I have found this only happens with the newer Xbox One controllers with the 3.5mm audio jack (both regular 3.5mm standard edition and the brand new white S version)

Playing Divinity - Original Sin Enhanced Edition had major issues with triggers as well as double inputs as everyone in this thread has talked about.

I hooked up my old Xbox One controllers without the 3.5mm audio jack and all was fine again.

Driver rollback works for USB or Wifi dongle but not Bluetooth.

 

getting this on a couple of PC's with bluetooth 4.0 (asus usb-bt400 dongle, fyi) on the new s controller

Was not affecting my surface pro 3 running the insider preview build of win10 pro.

Was affecting other ppc running win10 pro on release build.

3rd PC running win 10 home also affected.

tested all 3 with same bluetooth dongle. surface pro not affected and working as expected.

Updated both other machines to the insider preview build 14393.10 and connected everything back up again.

Issue is now only affecting the windows 10 home PC. Suspect that the issue is fixed in 14393.10 for win10 pro, but not home.

 

further update on previous post.

checked to see if there were any driver updates pending for the Bluetooth adapter. did this in device manager and just hit the update driver software button on the dongle and the xbox controller. This has solved it for me.

So, I can confirm that at least with build 14393.10, letting windows handle all the drivers and install, and trusting windows update does appear to solve the problem. If this does not work on current release build I am sorry all, but the good news is that
it appears that a fix is in the pipeline already

 

After the Anniversary Update, both my wireless dongle and Xbox One controller (both OEM) appear to be broken.

The dongle doesn't show up in Device manager, despite switching to different USB ports.

The gamepad now won't stay turned on, even connected via USB. Isn't detected in the "Xbox Accessories" app.

 

Same problem here as well.

Tested on 2 different PCs running Windows 10 and with 2 different 4.0 bluetooth adapters. I was really looking forward to this for PC, but as of now it's DOA for PC gaming. I already have 3 Xbox One controllers for my Xbox One, and I planned on using this
for PC via bluetooth. Please figure this out soon or give us our money back.

Well here's a weird discovery...

I have both a standard Xbox One and Xbox One Elite controller and have used both with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Apart from irritating issues with characters/camera moving to the left in some games (mostly Unity Engine ones) the controllers have been working
fine in both wired and wireless modes.

However, after updating to v1607 of Windows 10 Pro I've noticed that a number of games, which previously were working fine, are now not working properly with the Xbox One Elite controller. These include both Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, Beyond Eyes and
INSIDE.

The weird thing about the two MUA games is that it WAS broken at launch with non-functional and mismatched buttons (RT didn't work, A was X, X was Y, etc) then 1.2 and 2 GB patches fixed all the issues and I was able to play the game just fine as intended.
However, now in the Anniversary update of Windows it is back to how it was before it was patched which is weird.

I loaded the Xbox Accessories app and it showed that I had the latest firmware installed (something ending v2.3.2388.0). The issues occur whether used wirelessly (using the adaptor) or wired.

So I checked the firmware on my standard Xbox One pad and it had v2.3.2381.0, again the latest version with the build differences no doubt being due to it not being an Elite controller.

Anyway, I just loaded up Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which remember is now broken with my Elite controller, and was rather surprised that I was able to skip the logos using A on the standard Xbox One controller! Seems that the standard Xbox One controller
works absolutely fine in Windows Anniversary v1607 but the Elite controller doesn't.When I checked the controller menu in the game it shows an Xbox One controller when using either the Elite or Standard controller but only the latter works properly in the
game.

Bearing in mind, that both controllers are presumably using the SAME driver and I was testing both wirelessly this issue leaves me completely baffled. Maybe the Elite controller needs an updated firmware? At least I know I can use the standard controller
for affected games but that is not ideal when I paid £120 for the Elite controller and prefer to that for games!

Getting really fed up of the lack of quality control from Microsoft, particularly in regards to supporting their own products. I never had all these problems when I had an Xbox 360 controller and to all intents and purposes the Xbox One controller should
act exactly the same way but for whatever reason Microsoft made major changes to the driver and this has resulted in a larger number of incompatibility issues with games.

 

P.S. I have had several issues with my Xbox One Elite controller failing to sync with the wireless adaptor. Usually, unplugging the adaptor then plugging it back in fixes it but I never had to do this in Windows v1511.

Also, a brief play of Dragon's Dogma this morning showed two controllers being detected in the Control settings and when I play the game it keeps switching the on-screen button prompts from A/B/x/Y to 1/2/3/4!!!

Oh Microsoft, what have you done...?

 

Same issues here. Bought a new Xbox one s bluetooth controller to replace my 360 pad, and it either works briefly then stops, the button presses are incorrect or doubled. Some games and steam see it as two controllers. The whole reason I bought an xbox pad
for the pc is for the ease of plug and play and compatibility and no fussing around. Yet, Microsoft seems to have messed it properly with xbox one controller support on windows. Back to my wired 360 pad I go.

 

Concur, My Z+ and Z- axis triggers are borked as well...
