    Xbox One Console Updates Every Time It’s Powered On


    Every time I turn on my Original Xbox One, it tries to update. I’m not enrolled in the insider program. I believe it’s trying to install a lower firmware every time..maybe caught in a loop? The error page shows:

    There was a problem with the update

    You need this update to use your console, but something went wrong. For help, visit xbox.com/xboxone/update/help

    Xbox Will not go past 50% on a factory reset

    Thank you for coming to the forums today, I'd be happy to help.

    Does the console shut down every time that it get's to 50% on the system update section? What step during the update does it shut down?

    [*]Go ahead and do a
    hard reset and power cycle     the Xbox. Hold down the power button on the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 2-3 minutes. Then re-connect
    and turn on the Xbox to try the process again.

    If that doesn't help then take a look at our system update troubleshooter and you may need to try an Offline System Update:

    Same problem here. Console changes my stored static IP to a specific incorrect one every time it is powered down. So it's not just my system, but a bug that will hopefully be fixed in a future update?

    Microsoft Edge not working

    Check Settings>System>Console info to see if you have the latest
    XBox OS update     because Edge is part of the XBox Operating System. You can't uninstall and reinstall without a System update.

    Have you Powered off your console, and then unplugged the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off?

    If you use Instant on power mode, it doesn't hurt to completely power cycle your console every now and then.
