Xbox One Coil Noise

Hello,

I just had a chat with Microsoft support about how to fix Coil Noise. We did some troubleshooting, but nothing worked. In the end the guy gave me a link to try something called offline system update diagnostic tool.

Then we ended the chat and I had a look at the link. Now I am not sure if this is meant to fix the coil noise, but rather to fix updates not working while online.

Although, I do think the coil noise may have been caused by a system update because the noise appeared after a system update. Not sure which one, but I think around October.

Now, should I still give offline system update diagnostic tool a try in the hopes to fix my Xbox One's Coil Noise?

Kinectless Xbox One Noise

Does the kinectless Xbox One still have that coil noise from a few months back??

 

I'm on my 10th Xbox One and needing help.

If you have applied all the system updates and the coil noise is unbearable then try to source an earlier model like you suggest.

How loud is the noise you experience? Could be that it is the new standard until Microsoft release an updated architecture.

I have two Xbox One Day One Editions and both run almost silent so not sure what the coil whir noise is like.

 

Coil Noise? Not sure I understand what that is. I have an idea but I want to make sure I am correct. Will you please explain that a little more. Thanks...

Never mind. I see what you are talking about. Not sure what it is though.

 

What kind of things did support have you try? Don't want to start over with something that has already been tried.

What I have tried so far is a power cycle. Hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds for it to fully shut off. Then unplug every cable and the power supply and wait for 5 minutes. Did this one twice.

After restarting the console the noise was still present.

And they asked me if the console is in a well ventilated area. It is, with no other heat sources nearby or objects on top of my console.

 

That is exactly what I would have suggested. Is th noise coming out of the TV speakers or out of the XBOX itself? If it is coming out of the TV do you hear the noise through headphones?

 

It's coming from the Xbox One itself. Not the TV, power supply or headphones. I held my ear against the Xbox One, and the noise is best heard on the top side.

 

Really can't think of anything else to try. Maybe someone else has some ideas.

If is still under warranty you might consider sending it in for repair.

Yeah, the only thing I haven't done that Xbox Support said is this offline system update diagnostic tool thing.

But after reading into it, it doesn't seem to be exactly my issue.

I still have warranty until January 2017. Guess I will send my Xbox for repair next year during January. I don't want to lose it for these 2 weeks I have off from school.

No problem. Wish I could have done more. Like you I don't thing the system update diagnostic tool would be the answer but before sending it off it might be worth a try.
