xBox One Audio messed up through HDMI to RCA converter solutions?

My son has an xBox One 500G hooked to our old 27" CRT Sony TV through a HDMI to RCA converter by 'a rasfox'. It works fine converting our MacMini and Samsung Smart BluRay streaming player to the TV. Unfortunately the xBox One audio is garbled/chipped/glitchy
and static filled (& at low volume level to boot.) I have tried the xBox One support assistance to change the settings in General to no avail. I do not currently have a receiver and audio system hooked up here with the TV, but I may just be forced to revert
to putting another receiver with an optical digital audio input, but didn't want to have to make room in the room for all of that gear (and subject it to my 7 & 14 year old.) Any suggestions as to what my failure is on this? Is it my RCA converter, something
else I have done, or is it just the xBox One isn't cooperative with this situation no matter what settings I choose? I am unbelievably frustrated....

Thanks for your post. I understand you are experiencing an issue with audio on your Xbox One through your HDMI to RCA converter. Using converters like these are not recommended for use with an Xbox One because of formatting issues that can cause the Xbox
to misbehave. You may find success in adjusting the audio output format on the Xbox One. To change these settings, visit this page:

I also only have an RCA cable box. I purchased an RCA to HDMI converter and it does NOT work. It recognizes that there is a signal, but it is a black screen with no audio. This could be the converter that I bought, but it could be something else- not sure.

Hi. I connect Xbox One to the SP/DIF digital to analogue converter using optical cable, then connect the converter to my audio amp using RCA. I only use HDMI to connect the Xbox to the TV. I don't need the TV's speakers.
