Xbox one and series x local multiplayer?

    Hi

We've got an old Xbox one, that still works, albeit slowly, and are considering getting a series x. I assume we’d be able to do local multiplayer with games like halo using both consoles in the same house?

Would both consoles need an Xbox live subscription to do this, even though local multiplayer?

And if we can do it, can 2 players be on each console? I have 3 boys, and of course I’d like to join in! Xbox one and series x local multiplayer? :)

    Thanks

    :)

Xbox one and series x local multiplayer?

    Hello Mike079,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It appears that you are trying to play local multiplayer of the game using your console. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

We have found an official article that will help us address your concern. Here are the information we have found from the game developer support team article.

    • Yes, you can play local multiplayer for Halo without Xbox Game Pass Core subscription (Previously Xbox Live Gold). Halo Infinite multiplayer is entirely free to play across all available platforms, including Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You don't need Xbox Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions to play the game online. However, you will need an active internet connection and a Microsoft account to access the multiplayer mode.
    • If you want to play with your friends online, you can use the matchmaking or custom game options in the multiplayer menu. You can invite your friends to your fireteam (your party) and join the same match and team, where possible. You can also play split-screen with up to four players on the same Xbox console, depending on the game mode.
For your reference, see: How to play Halo Infinite multiplayer with friends – Halo Support (halowaypoint.com)

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

thanks. Sorry, I didn't get any notifications of a response. That does kind of answer my question. Thanks. We did try using the recent re-issue version of Halo, but that seems to need another account, and doesn't seem to work if we don't have Xbox Live?

We tried split screen co-op on the same machine and couldn't get it to work. do we need the older version of Halo?

Why Can't I Access Loadouts In MWII Offline Multiplayer?

Thank you for getting back to me. For me the issue started the 17th of December. I had got an Xbox Series X for my birthday on the 17th. I then installed Call Of Duty Modern Warfare II like I would any other digital game I get. I got the cross gen bundle edition which is basically two digital versions of the game, one for Xbox One and one for Xbox Series X. I've seen YouTube videos where YouTubers who acquired the game had the same issue. Online multiplayer works just fine, but the thing is, I don't want to spend several months to a full year to grind for weapons and all that stuff, hence why I was aiming to play local multiplayer because everything is unlocked in local multiplayer, except skins in which very few Call of Duty games allow in local multiplayer.

Also, it's not a game feature as this wasn't the case in the beta. Everything in local multiplayer was unlocked in the beta according to those who played it. I believe this is a bug. Surprisingly, a gold subscription is needed to even access online multiplayer and money is tight so. Anyway, thanks for the assistance. I've already contacted Infinity Ward and Activision, they haven't gotten back to me however.
