XBox not connecting, not updating, not resetting, not working.

I'm having serious problems with my XBox not being able to maintain a network connection. My PC and TV are on the same network and they both work fine. But the XBox connects less than half the times I turn it on. I've restarted it tonight 3 times. I did an update last night. It says another update is pending. First start it couldn't connect, after 2 restarts it seemed to connect. But nothing works. XBox assist crashes or it can't start. I do a network test and it says everything is OK. Then I get a notification - goodbye - as if it's just disconnected. A game is stuck on an update at 73%, there is no progress when I watch it.

I decided to do a reset - I chose reset and keep games and apps - I have a message 'we were unable to remove this consoles home xbox associations'.

I don't know what to do. A few weeks ago I changed the network cable, I'd been having similar problems for weeks. Changing the cable seemed to fix it, it immediately connected and everything seemed good. Now I'm seeing the exact same behavior some weeks later.

Please give me some guidance about what to do. And also, if I do a full reset, will I lose my save games?

Edit. So I proceeded with the reset - I've decided that the error message is just a poorly presented message about device ownership not being changed with this reset. I've setup the new mobile XBox app and connected successfully with the console, but during setup just after the screen where I select language and location the app gets stuck on this page...

Then it returns to the connection screen with a yellow exclamation mark and says 'Make sure the code you entered matches the code on your TV. Then try again. It's the correct code. It looks like I can't proceed past this screen.

Edit: I worked out I can turn on the controller and skip that step, ignoring the xbox app (this is just a terrible, terrible experience). So, with the controller I select language and location, then on the console I get the following error screen...

It's one thing after another.

Selecting TRY AGAIN doesn't do anything, the button visually 'clicks' but nothing happens. When I CHECK NETWORK I get a message that 'It's all good' and I'm connected to the network. So it seems like the diagnosis is flawed or not capable of fully identifying issues. If it's the Microsoft servers, we should get a message saying so, instead of these rabbit holes. I've been at this for 2 hours now, trying to get the console to work.

Gavin.Williams, I suggest you try an offline update on your console and check after that how it behaves, if this issue keeps happening, there's something wrong with the hardware of your console. :/

If your console still has its warranty, I suggest you send it in. If not depending on the model, Microsoft offers support at a cost, I will leave the charges related to every model above.

You're welcome, mate. Let's hope that the offline update helps. But if it doesn't and you don't want to send it off to Microsoft under the charged repair service, what you could also do, is to look for a repair store in your region and take your console just for analysis on its hardware, just to see what's going on with it.

@L4c3rd4 Thank you so much. I'll try the offline update. It's an XBox One X. I actually bought it second hand a couple years ago. I guess if the offline update doesn't work I'll just have to write it off. I was planning on trading it in for a Series X at some point, but I guess that might be off the table now

I’m having a similar issue. It is in a constant loop of queued, installation stopped. The and it isnt even showing the images for the game.

Lots of space (50% on a One X) internet is connected and working. Reset router, checked for updates, reset the Xbox, reset internet connection etc

Does your Xbox one internet connection drop and not work again until you do a full hard reset? That's my situation and It started occuring at the Aug or Sept update. My xbox networking has been extremely flakey since.. It will not stay connected, it forgets
the connection/password and won't work until it's rebooted.
