Xbox not allowing specific games for my kids in spite of no restrictions

If you get the message about the owner of the game having to sign in, then it is NOT content restrictions.

If it were content restrictions, the game would start, but show a dialogue that a parent has to allow the kid to play the restricted game.

You'd then either get a message, or get asked to sign in on the console to allow the kids to play the restricted game.

So I'd really put my money on an incorrectly configured Home Console setting.

Also be aware: If your kids are "smart" enough maybe they figured out your password, and might have given your account to a friend for "game sharing". Be sure to

secure your account with a passcode and
Two Step Verification.

Thst would depend on what your parents allow you to do and your local laws. They can use the Family app to allow you to play Mature games. Or the game may work. without. restrictions. i suggest you contact the developer and ask them, as they'll know best about restrictions specific to their game.

Huh... if my money and time budgets would allow, I'd probably have a PS console in addition to my Xbox as well.

There's family settings and passcodes you can put on your older daughters account which stops him from accessing sensitive info, go to settings, then account- then family settings. Click manage family members( make sure your on your daughters account) then
add his profile. Should be good to go after that

You can make the his account a child account which will ask for authorization to use the settings and other such things
