    Xbox no longer able to run 4k/HDR


    Xbox has been running perfectly fine for months on the same setup - playing last night and had a party chat issue. Reset the console via power cycle and it no longer gives any video output when trying to run 4K/HDR - just get a black screen.

    Tried different HDMI cable, different 4K TV and it does the same thing. I have also reset the console with keeping games/apps and still continues to fail.

    The only way I’ve managed to get it on is by rebooting in low resolution mode and the highest it will handle is 1080p. Absolutely nothing has changed, and this all occurred midsession after about 3 hours of playing.

    None of the “experts” on the chat seem to know and won’t allow me to speak with anyone who actually works for Xbox support so any help would really be appreciated.

    My Xbox one X will no longer allow me to record in 4k or 4k HDR

    My tv is a 55" OLED 4k HDR tv (I did say in the past it has recorded in 4k and that the tv is running in 4k HDR)

    Error (91d70000) is in regards to, "4K is supported by your TV, but not at 60Hz. You won't be able to upscale to 4K, but, depending on your TV, you may still be able to play some 4K and HDR content. To see what your TV supports, choose 4K TV details."

    Turned off 4K and HDR and I'm able to play.

    I then turned 4K back on but not HDR and Its still working ;-)

    On the Xbox One S/X: HDR requires 4K, but 4K does not require HDR.

    Are you disabling HDR through your TV menu, or the Xbox display settings? If you're disabling HDR through the TV menu, this may be toggling your HDMI port from version 2.0 to 1.4. 4K resolution is not supported on Xbox if it is plugged into an HDMI port
    running version 1.4 specs, and will drive 1080p/SDR at most. If you disable HDR through the Xbox display settings (found in advanced settings menu), it should simply be running 4K without HDR from there.

    If input lag is a huge concern, check if your TV has a "Game Mode," probably located somewhere in the TV's picture settings. This disables some (likely subtle) image post-processing features on the TV to reduce input lag.
