Xbox new Parental control method that allow players to play Online via shared accounts

The console itself could have parental controls enabled to prevent you from playing online that your PC does not have. Your parent or guardian would have to modify the account settings for the Child account to allow online gameplay. Verify with your parent
or guardian that they have enabled online gameplay on your account, or if they will allow it.

There is a new settings on Xbox.com under Xbox Settings, Privacy and Online for the parent account. Select the child account and then Xbox Online Safety. The first option needs to be checked to allow the account to play with people outside of Xbox Live.

Is it the parental settings on your console maybe ? Did someone set the parental settings to only allow online play at certain times.

Since you are on a family Gold account, you will have to go to Parental Controls and set the controls to allow Xbox LIVE play on your child accounts.

Change your child’s safety and privacy settings

1. Sign in to Xbox LIVE using an adult account.
2. Go to Settings, and then select Family.

4. Go to Online Safety, and then select Change Settings.
5. Change the settings to whatever you’d like.
6. To exit, press the B button on your controller, and then select Save and Exit.

To activate parental controls on Xbox, follow these steps:

On the Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Online security & family.

Select Parental Controls.

Select Activate.

Create a parental control password.

Next Select.

Select the parental control options you want to apply.

Select Save.

Here is a description of the parental control options you can set:

Content Restrictions: These options allow you to restrict the content your child can view and play. You can restrict content based on age, gender, and content type.

Screen Time: These options allow you to restrict the amount of time your child can play. You can set daily or weekly time limits.

And the one you want is this:

Communication Settings: These options allow you to restrict the ways your child can communicate with other online players. You can disable private messages, voice chat, and group creation.

On the Communication Settings screen, you can configure the following options:

Private messages: Select Allow to allow your child to send and receive private messages, or select Don't allow to disable them.

Voice chat: Select Allow to allow your child to use voice chat, or select Don't allow to disable it.

Creating groups: Select Allow to allow your child to create groups or join groups created by other players, or select Don't allow to disable it.

Once you've set up Parental Controls, you can access it at any time in Settings > General > Online Safety & Family > Parental Controls.
