xbox music cloud

The cloud syncing to the phone has been a little iffy since it's launch. What the tech support for Xbox Music will tell you is to make sure the tracks you are adding are part of the Cloud. Please note that Music Pass content is not automatically added to
the Cloud.

If you're making a playlist out of Music Pass content and that is not syncing, the music has to be added to the Cloud collection, usually through Xbox Music on Windows 8.

Most of my music I have ripped in WMA format from my CDs.

With Music Pass Downloads and Xbox Music Cloud Turned off: My ripped music does not show any Icon to the right. Music that I had downloaded through Zune shows the sound icon that says streaming only.

Enabled Music Pass Downloads: No changes to above

Enabled Music Cloud: Some of my music is showing the cloud and says Matched here and in the cloud for streaming on other devices. Cloud with recycle/refresh arrows and says only available online.

So it appears that by going to settings and turning off Music Pass Downloads and Music Cloud for a few minutes and then turning them both back on it is trying to ID and match my ripped music to albums listed in the cloud instead of showing downloading 348,000
songs it is only downloading about 1,200 which is about what I had for music pass content.

AJLawless, try this:

Backup your music

Turn on the cloud toggles in Xbox Music on Surface

Give it an hour or so to sync up

Delete all music from your surface using the controls provided in the Music app

Give it an hour to sync the deletions to your cloud

Turn off the cloud toggles

Restore your collection from your backup

Why is this? I can play my music in the default music player on the xbox, streaming it from my pc? It isnt really a cloud based service. Im not using the cloud in anyway, the music is just coming from my pc to the xbox via my home network, it doesnt use
microsofts cloud at all. So theres no reason why you should be charging to just play my own music.

There is a way to turn off the Cloud feature of the Xbox Music app. When in the Xbox Music app, open the Charms Bar and select Settings>Preferences. There you will see two "switches" under Xbox Music Cloud. Turn those off.
