Today is my 18th birthday but when I signed in to view my Xbox profile it still says on my Xbox family that I am a child. Is there any reason for this? I thought that your profile was made into an adult when you become of age.

    :)

    Hi TendedCircle13,

Thanks for reaching out to us today. I'm sorry to hear about the current account age update issue. Your Xbox Live account age will be based from the Date of Birth that you entered when you created your Xbox Live profile online. Once the account reaches the
age of 18 years old, it will automatically change to adult. One thing to verify is that the birthday on your account is correct.
If you accidentally set up an incorrect Date of Birth on the account, you have to wait for the account to become an adult or create a new account with the correct Date of Birth.

However, if your account shows the correct Date of Birth and the system recognizes it as child account,
you can promote the child account to adult by adding a payment instrument and a billing information to your Microsoft Account. You can go to this

    link
and follow the steps to add a payment instrument to your account.

    Why?

Why you're being asked for parental consent

If the date of birth on your Microsoft account shows that you're under 18 years old, Xbox is required to request parental consent for you to use Xbox Live.

If you're an adult, but you got a message asking for parental consent, it's because you're a child in your Microsoft family. Even if you're over the age of 18, you can still be a child in Microsoft family.

    Solution

If you're under the age of 18, follow the steps on your console to have your parent sign in and add you to a Microsoft family.

If you're over the age of 18, have your parent remove you from the family. They'll have to sign in to
account.microsoft.com/family, select your profile, and select remove.

If you're unable to clear the message, contact Xbox Support.

Microsoft has set the age to 18 years on a child account. Once your account age turns 18 you can then promote it from a child account to an adult account. There is no fix or workaround for this.
