    Xbox microphone "plugged in" even though nothings in it.


    Hey,
    So basically I had an accident with a headphone and had to get new ones, When I plugged them in and out, for some reason it said I had a headset in even though the headphone jack wasnt in, and when I went into a party without a mic/headset, I couldnt hear them but could hear the games just fine.
    Any tips?

    This issue can be resolved by performing a power cycle on your Xbox console. Here are the steps to follow:

    1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the front of the console for 10 seconds until the console turns off.

    2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the console and wait for 10 seconds.

    3. Plug the power cable back in and turn on the console.

    Hello Xylo2009, is this happening on the PC or console when it refers to disconnections, the control to and keeps flashing, or does it just no longer emit signal?

    I ask this because it may be something on the USB cable, or even on your device's USB port.

    Okay, I just discovered an issue:

    The Xbox Stereo Headset's microphone does NOT work when connected via a USB hub, even if it's the only device attached to the USB hub. The microphone is detected, but it does not detect any sound in the volume meter.

    As soon as I plug my Xbox One controller directly into the Surface Pro 2, the microphone immediately detects sound.
