    Xbox Mic has no sound in any games


    I have two Xbox controllers, three stereo headset jacks and 4 microphones. I have updated the firmware on both Xbox controllers. I have tested all the microphones on my PS4 and they all work just fine. I first observed this on Xbox in August 2021, i.e., that I could hear and talk in a party chat, but not in a chat where audio has been switched to game chat or any in game. I thought it was affecting just one game, however, it is affecting all games. For some reason, no matter what I do, I can chat in party, but as soon as I switch to game chat, or just joint a game my mic is silenced in that game even if it's a single player game.

    I checked and Xbox shows that my account has no infractions.

    I did reset the Xbox and kept games, but that only allowed me to chat with the Kinect attached. I disabled the mic on the Kinect, but still could not chat with the microphone attached to the headset. I decided to disconnect the Kinect altogether now the mic works.

    With your headset plugged into your controller:

    - Press the Xbox Button and choose Audio

    - Make sure the Headset Mic is set to On and headset volume and mic monitoring is turned up

    If that doesn't work, try another profile/account on your Xbox and see if that other profile works with the headset. If it does, then you may have an issue with your profile. If that doesn't work, try a console reset:

    Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

    Note: the "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not make you lose your games, but you will need to sign in to the account again.

    See how it goes and let me know, please.

    Did you set your permissions on your Xbox account to be able to chat in game?

    To change your Xbox account privacy settings, sign in to the privacy & online safety page:

    Set all the settings to "Allow" or "Everyone" on the three tabs:

    Privacy;

    Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & Windows 10 Online Security;

    Xbox 360 Online Security;

    Note: If you’re on a child account, you’ll need an adult in your family to sign in to their Microsoft account to change your privacy settings. This is done through the Family settings.
