Xbox Messages Really Slow and Finicky

I do a lot of trading in Rocket League and it has become increasingly frustrating trying to message through Xbox.

A little backstory, before one of the recent updates, I was able to contact people pretty easily. The website Rocket League Garage allowed people to post their gamertags and you could click a button to contact them through Xbox. You would be diverted to
the Xbox.com page with their gamertag loaded up in a blank message and you could send an offer for their item pretty easily. However, after an update maybe in like November or December, that feature no longer works. When you click the "Contact them via Xbox"
button, you are just taken to your messages page, but their name is not loaded up to send a message to. Furthermore, you can search for the user, find them, and when you try to click the send a message button it does the same thing. You are taken to your messages
page and their name doesn't show up. On the messages page itself, when you select create new message, it only allows you to send a message to people you are friends with.

Even more, the website is super finicky. I reload multiple times and sometimes the messages just have a loading wheel spinning and nothing happens. Sometimes, I get the page loaded, but the most recent messages displayed are from almost a month ago. And
very rarely, I will have all of my current messages loaded up, but can only send messages to friends or other chat longs already existing.

The only way I have found to send messages is to manually type in their gamertag in the Xbox app, find their profile page, and then select send a message from that. That is another big problem for me. My app is just as finicky as the website. The same loading
issues on messages and whatnot, but the most frustrating thing is that I am never notified for when I am sent messages. I tab over to the settings and change the Notifications to pop up for when I am sent new messages. However, this only works sometimes. Oddly
enough, the app will uncheck the box after some time. Even without me force closing it or resetting my phone or anything like that. The app runs in the background all day and unchecks the box after a random amount of time.

Am I missing something here? This is super frustrating trying to get simple text messages to show up. I get immediate notifications and messages in Facebook and Discord, why does the Xbox messaging system have to be so finicky on the website, app, and console
    itself?

    :)

    Hello
    PeeeCoffee
    ,

Thanks for responding and thanks for the clarification.

If that is the case, and the issue that you're describing was caused by a recent Xbox update,

I would definitely try a Soft Factory Reset (KEEP MY GAMES AND APPS) of the console. (FYI)

Afterwards you'll have to reconnect to the network / internet - get the latest update (again) - and re-download your profile.

Pretty much go through the entire initial setup process.

If the issue that you're describing is a fixable issue... that should do it. Good luck!

    Let us know! Happy gaming!

I understand that about their website, but their website worked before a recent update Xbox did. The website would simply open a new tab on Xbox.com with the prompt to send a message to the gamertag the user entered.

I believe the issue with the website is the same issue with Xbox.com: you cannot open up a new message to a user who isn't on your friends list. That is all the Rocket League trading website was doing, but since I cannot send messages to people outside of
friends, I believe the issue is the same. You can find the person on Xbox.com and even click the "Send A Message" button on their profile page, but the next page under the messages tab will just be the messages themselves. No prompt to send a message the user
who's profile you were just at. And like I said before, when you click, "Create A New Message", you cannot manually type a gamertag into the message window, only scroll through your friends list to send it to.

The app issue is anyone's guess. I have unistalled and reinstalled plenty of times, reset my phone, force closed and re-opened, and even completely logging out and logging back in. But nothing seems to work.

The most frustrating thing is that messages take forever to load up on all mediums. The spinning circle takes forever. I even spent a good chunk of an afternoon on my console deleting every message I had in the hopes it would speed things up, but alas, it
    made little to no difference.

    Hello Coffee,

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. With your issue on the website, rocket league garage. This is their website and isn't controlled by us, if the button for contacting them thru Xbox that would be with rocket league as the site isn't working
correctly. If you are having a lot of issues on the console,
    power cycling
the console once in a while, helps a lot. If you still experience the issues on the console you can do a

    soft factory reset
    .

With not receiving notifications, first make sure you have them allowed in your privacy settings. You can try and

    uninstall and reinstall the profile
    .

    Thanks,

I am not having an issue with Rocket League itself. It is the messaging system for Xbox I am having issue with. The website I was referring to is Rocket League Garage. The way it used to work was the button to contact someone would take you to the Xbox.com
messaging tab with their gamertag already inserted into a blank message where you could type your offer to them.

I believe the Xbox.com website had an update where that feature got goofed up. Because I cannot even manually send a message to other users unless they are on my friends list. The message popup does not allow you to type a gamertag into the "To:" field which
is what I believe the website was doing anyway.

Hopefully this makes sense. I think the issue is that a recent Xbox update caused the messaging through Xbox.com to be wonky. It has nothing to do with the Rocket League Garage or the game itself.

    Hello
    PeeeCoffee
    ,

Here is the direct link to the Rocket League Website !

If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the webpage, on the bottom right corner you'll see

the "Support" options with Known Issues, Patch Notes, Submit a Request and Troubleshooting.

And again, I would also go through the troubleshooting steps that
    XBF Brad A
    mentioned above, including
    uninstalling and re-installing the

    game.

I hope this helps! Let us know!

    Happy gaming!
