    Xbox menu display problems

I've only had my Xbox One S for almost a month and I'm having a problem I've never had in the yen years I've owned an Xbox. When I hit the "Xbox button", the menu doesn't come up anymore and the screen just dims. So when I'm playing a game, I can't pull
up the Xbox menu to get back to the home screen or go anywhere else without having to turn my console off then on again. I have no idea why it started doing this and don't know how to fix it. Can someone please help me resolve this issue? I don't want to have
to do a factory reset unless that's my only option, and even then, I'm not certain that will automatically fix the problem.

    :)

    360 Slim Doesn't See Network

I have somewhat a similar problem. Lately my 360 won't connect to the wireless network by itself. I start it and after the logo I have to wait 30 seconds for it to display the home menu. The connection always fail, and the session is started without Xbox Live turned on.
I had to manually configure the network every time I play.
What I did was to get a signal amplifier so that the Xbox could fetch it easier. It worked like a charm.

I would try to power cycle the console by holding the power button on the console for a full 10 seconds until it turns off. Wait a minute and then try again.

Also, if you do a factory reset, you won't lose all of your stuff like you used to. You can factory reset it, but keep all of your games and apps etc untouched.

    Black Bars on screen

I read elsewhere that their should be an option in your xbox menu settings under display. I am having the same problem on ps3.

Strange recurring problem with not displaying xbox live menus

you may want to run a network test in network settings. the tabs wont refresh properly if you suffer from high latency aka Ping. my new network has 86ms ping from the old 500+ ping :)

Strange recurring problem with not displaying xbox live menus

I tried the sign out / sign in way and it's worked, for how long I don't know though. I'll keep the cold re-start in mind if the problem comes up again, I've always had the console in energy saving mode. Thanks for your help.

Strange recurring problem with not displaying xbox live menus

network instability was a issue for me. since it TRADED up to shiny new Internet Provider my network has been very good. my dashboard wouldnt show the tabs on the right (deals gold and such) and were just blank. if i signed out and back in the tabs would
refesh and work properly. only had the invisible tabs when my Xbone was turned on.

if its a cache issue for you which is wat it sounds like to me then try this: press and hold the power button on your Xbone for about 5sec till it turns off. this will do a cold restart of the Xbone and clear your cache. in power settings if you have your
Xbone set to "Instant-on" (which is basically stand-by mode) then you will have to do this procedure once a month to clear your cache.

in "energy-saving mode" (*facepalm* really M$? just call it Full Shutdown mode) the Xbone will fully shutdown when you turn it off and AUTO-CLEARS the cache. downside is background downloading is disabled. .
