    Xbox making a humming or scratching noise


    I have an Xbox series x digital and when I go to turn on the Xbox it will power on and the light will come on but then I hear what sounds like a buzzing or a scratching noise from within the Xbox. After that the Xbox will usually turn off and won’t turn back on for a couple minutes. Once I am able to get the Xbox on it runs with no issues. So I’m not quite sure what could be causing the issue of it to turn on and then immediately turn back off.

    Sounds like a power supply or cooling fan issue. Try plugging it into a different outlet, using a different power cable if available, and checking for dust buildup around the vents. If the noise persists, it might need repair. You can see your options for repair services through Xbox here:

    They don't do damage if it's just a loud humming noise, that's just the drive running at a high speed. As you are not getting any scratches I can say that for sure.
