Xbox live sign in stuck on gamer tag page

It seems this is being a trend now, though I am not seeing any Xbox live status from the Xbox page https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status yet but I am seeing fellow gamers posting in community forums as well and via reddit page https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/14weai1/...

For the meantime, I suggest you try giving it a little more time or try creating here on this page https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag in case you are still having problem on the page.

Try to go to https://account.microsoft.com page first. Once you are signed in go to https://account.xbox.com/profile page next to see if it will allow you to create one.

I hope this works somehow. But if not, I suggest to try contacting the Xbox support team here https://support.xbox.com/en-us/contact-us to see if there are others who reported it to Xbox directly as there are really no updates yet from the Xbox live service status page and we don't have means here to check if it is a wide issue now as we are just fellow members.

On the page, click on "Contact us" > Subscriptions & billing > I can't redeem a code > Type in "Support" then there you should see option to message or request a callback from the Xbox team. The option I provided here is diferent, this is just a way to easily find the option to reach the Xbox support.

For anyone in the future running into this issue - the solution is to login on https://account.microsoft.com first, then go to https://account.xbox.com/profile which will allow you to create an xbox live account with a seemingly random gamer tag. After that, you can migrate your mojang account without issues.

I haven't checked if the gamer tag can be changed because honestly I don't care, but I'm sure it can, so give that a shot.

I am not sure how it happened. I already had a Microsoft account. When I got my xbox I created an account and got a gamer tag while setting up my xbox. I signed up for xbox live from my xbox using my existing gamer tag and Microsoft account. I then went
to xbox live and signed in using my Miicrosoft account, and for some reason when I did this a new gamer tag was created and associate to my Microsoft account. So, now when I log into xbox live I see one gamer tag. But on my xbox I have a different gamer
tag.

Since you still have the email address on your Xbox account, kindly try to sign in to the same email on account.microsoft.com > then click on "Forgot Password" > then follow the instructions to reset the account password.

Once the password has been reset, sign in to the account on account.xbox.com > then look at the right top corner of the page to see your Gamertag.

Please check if the gamer tag showing on the page is the same gamer tag you are trying to recover.

If you created the tag on the computer, then you need to recover the gamertag in order to use it on the console.
