xbox live gold token code expired

I purchased an xbox live 3 month gold membership from walmart that came with an additional 3 months in the form of a token.

I used the initial code and waited for the 3 months to expire and then tried to redeem the the other code and it said code has expired and cannot be redeemed. I looked at both emails from when I purchased the code and nothing indicated a time period/expiration.

I have both codes, know I used the initial one and it expired this month but can't use the token. I hope that someone can help with this and if it truly expires that quickly, it should be noted somewhere when you buy it.

I did not want to share the codes here, but hope someone can help me or direct me to where I can get the code redeemed. Thanks.

Dear xbox team,

I bought a xbox live gold code for 3 months. When I redeemed the code, it said that the token was expired and it couldn't be solved.

Microsoft giving free digital games for users with broken disc drives

I was just told this while chatting with an MS rep about a separate issue: "Every console sent in for repair will have a free 30 day Xbox Live Gold subscription after the repair. However for those with disc unreadable issue, on top of the free 30 day Xbox Live Gold subscription, they'll receive a free game token." They will email the code after the replacement XBox has shipped.

You would want to try contacting support to see if there is anything they can do, but generally if the code has expired there is no way to use it. Contact Us | Xbox Support

Also, just for future reference, gold codes do stack. So if you get multiples, you do not have to wait for 1 to expire before using the other one. You can add up to 36 months at a time.

Request a Callback from Xbox Support so that they can look into this more directly for you as they have the tools to do so.
Pick a topic (I recommend Account), it's going to ask if you want help from the virtual agent select
no thanks,pick the category(error messages and codes)and just pick a contact method
(request a call from support or Chat is faster).

If you have acquired an Xbox Live Gold code, I would check to see what the expiration date says on it. And just make sure to redeem it before the code expires!

Problem:

You see the following error code and message when you try to redeem an Xbox Live Gold membership prepaid code or token:

80169cf9

The payment option can't be used for this purchase. Please select a different payment option or add a new one.

This error message occurs when you have an active membership but auto renewal is turned off, and the payment instrument that was used to purchase that membership has been removed from your account or is no longer associated with your membership.

Solution:

Because the payment instrument has been removed from your current membership, you will not be able to add a prepaid code or token for a membership while your current membership is still active. You must wait until your current membership has ended to redeem
the token. Membership tokens do not expire. To find out when your membership will end, sign in to your Xbox account and tap or click Subscriptions to view the end dates for your current memberships and subscriptions.
