Xbox Live Gold free game does not want to start.

I recently bought Xbox Live Gold, I wait for free games every month, except that when I download and start them, they get an error message, which is:
You need to connect an Xbox 360 hard drive to play original Xbox games. For more information, visit www.xbox.com/games.

I've already visited the informed site but I couldn't find anything.

Can someone please help me?

What console are you using?

If you are using a basic Xbox360 it only has a 4GB internal memory which is insufficient for game downloads. You would have to fit an Xbox 250GB HDD into the HDD slot in the console.

The Xbox 360 needs a legit 360 HDD connected for original xbox games to play that are backward compatable.

Fortnite is a free-to-play game which means it does not require an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Xbox Live Gold subscription is not just required for free-to-play games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone 2.0 etc.

You can use apps like YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc. without an xbox live gold subscription. Although you will have to pay for each subscription individually on those websites. For example, xbox gold membership does not give you access to Hulu and Netflix,
etc. You must buy each subscription separately if you want to use them. Youtube is free mostly, anyway.

So no, no annual fee unless you want access to things like online multiplayer gaming and other features of xbox live gold like a couple free

games with gold every month.
