Xbox Live Gold - Custom Subscription

Most people don't want to waste their Xbox Live Gold subscription because they're on vacation or have divorced parents. I suggest that people should be able to create a custom plan for their subscription. If they need to change it they would only be able
to change days after the current day, but obviously pay for those days. In my case I go to the house with the xbox every other week, so I would make the plan active every other week. If you try to use it on a non-active day, it might show a message saying
"You did not plan this day as active. You can pay
$_.__ to use Xbox Live Gold today."

Why does MS allow retailers to devalue their console?

MS encourages it. Why would they discourage a retailer selling a console for them that then leads to a customer buying a subscription to Xbox Live Gold?

It sounds like an overly complicated way to save a couple dollars, which would only get convoluted when you mix in games with gold and other benefits . If you have a yearly subscription and you pay full price for the subscription, it only costs $5 a month.

 

I was kind of thinking the same. It's also really easy to find good deals on gold, especially this time of year, so it's even cheaper.

Even better, since Gold stacks (up to 36 months), you can buy now and apply it to a current membership. I've rarely spent over US$50 for 12 months of Gold, and have frequently found it for under $40.

 

I think day-by-day subscription would be a little too complicated as it would realistically only save you a few cents. Perhaps a month-based subscription model, where you can choose what months of the year you want it? But putting it that way, to me, almost
sounds like a parental control feature.

I second what RandyAU93 has said, I often used to find good deals on Xbox Live Gold and stack them.
