Xbox Live "Friend" is online Notifications not working!

Xbox notifications have not been working for over a month. Having the issue on both the Mobile Xbox App, as well as Next Gen Consoles. I have spoken with multiple friends who have Last Gen and Next Gen (Xbox one, as well as Xbox Series X & S) and no one is getting notified of when an added friend appears online or turns on their Xbox and signs into their account.

I've troubleshooted multiple times by unistalling and reinstalling the Mobile Xbox App on my iOS device, as well as resetting my entire xbox console to factory default and erasing all my games and content... Very frustrated at this point, as you would think this would be a simple bug fix that would have been addressed immediately, as it's a basic functionality of social media platforms. Knowing when a friend that you have added comes online, really helps with monitoring not only your child, but also knowing when your friends are going to be on so that you can plan your day around that.

Chatted with an Xbox Expert via chat, and was informed it could be a next-gen only issue. I do recall Modern Warfare crashing next gen consoles when it first came out *(I was so scared it was going to ruin my brand new hard-to-find Series X Christmas of 2020)* I was told if you ran the game at 1080p it wouldn't crash it. So perhaps this is yet another next gen issue. Hopefully posting this info will help others and calm them until an update FINALLY comes out!

I don't believe this is the problem. The Social services were down temporarily last week but now that it's back up, the "Friends Online" notifications are still not working. Also, We mentioned that this hasn't been working for months now. Probably 2 months now.

Again, this is still a problem. Xbox Live services are all showing that they are up and running with no issues. (https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status)

All troubleshooting steps have been taken many times to no avail. Is there a single person who has "Friends Online" notifications working? I don't know of anyone.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue right now. Upon checking the service alert status from this link, https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status.

It seems that it is posted there already and they are aware of it. We will have to wait for now until they have totally fixed the issue on their end. It says the details about your concern "Your friend's list may be unavailable, or the online status of friends may be not displayed correctly."

Rest assured that it is being investigated right now since it has been posted there.

It seems friend notifications only work if your friends connect to xbox live on xbox one. They do not work if your friends sign in on xbox 360. This is disappointing. I dont receive notifications for xbox 360 friends and yes i have my preferences set to
all friends.
