Xbox live card not activating

So, I bought an Xbox live gift card from Walmart for half off. It says on a receipt that the card did not activate. Could somebody explain?

Xbox Live not activating.

I bought a three month xbox live card a few days ago. When i entered the code into my xbox, it froze for a second before returning me to the home screen. I didn't think much of it and decided to start playing some games, however it kept changing screens
to a page where it told me to buy gold/live. I couldn't create a party or start a multiplayer match. I checked my settings and it said i have a three month subscription till feb next year. So i reset the console but it still did not work.

Eventually, i decided to hop onto my microsoft account on my laptop to check my purchases. And on the Purchase 27/11/17 which was the day i redeemed it, it said 0 DOLLARS. So now i have no idea as my account says i have live but no money on it?

Please help asap.

Xbox live not activating

This is an error that occurs sometimes after going from a free membership to a gold membership. It's easily fixable by just re-downloading your profile, you don't need to clear your system cache, and you shouldn't have to power cycle your XBOX 360. Instructions
on how to delete your gamer profile please click the link here. Please scroll down the bottom of the linked page and read the
instructions on deleting the account. NOTE: When deleting your account please make sure to select
Delete Profile Only and not Delete Profile and Items (doing so will get rid of DLC/Saves). Then just scroll up to the top of the page and follow the instructions to re-download the profile. This will re-sync your profile with the XBOX Live
service and you should be able to join your friends parties and games.

Or you can also do what Smwutches suggested, that's also known to work, but if it doesn't go ahead and try any other suggestion .

Hi there,

when stores (not sure if it is all or not) sell prepaid cards they get activated by the store, sometimes there is a delay between the actual moment it is sold and the activation.

Be sure to wait at least 24 hours and try again to see if it will work properly, if it still gives the error that it needs to be activated then you will have to contact the store.

If the card is not activated then you should speak to where you purchased the Xbox live card from and request they activate it for you.

On Xbox 360 is Xbox live. It activates itself and the method of payment with credit card. But the card that was attached is no longer valid. I have money put on a single MS account, but I can't, the money did pay for a subscription to Xbox live. To stop
the subscription does not work, as it is already activated itself in advance from the card. How to pay for a subscription to Xbox live without a credit card???

Cards are activated at the retailer they are purchased from. There's no way for you to self-activate. It can sometimes take up to 24 hours for the code to fully activate. If it doesn't work after that, then you would need to contact the retailer. If you
