Xbox live app constantly drops to 0b/s

Firstly, why does everything to do with Microsoft itself always a cause for frustration?

I have access to the internet (45mb/s upload & download), no problems downloading anything else but when using the Xbox App (because there isn't another option, you HAVE to use the app) the speed drops to 0b/s constantly. I pay for this service every month and because of who knows what reason I have to wait an entire week for a download! Tell me what I'm paying for? At this rate I think it'll be better to just cancel (yet another) Microsoft service in favour of another that, yes, may be more expensive but not a constant headache!

A solution that I came across was to use a VPN, which means not only do I have to pay for a service I'm not receiving, I have to pay an additional amount because Microsoft couldn't be bothered to realise that not everything revolves around America?

I have tried all of the following options so I can assure it is not my network:

    1. Click Start
    Open Settings
    Click Network and Internet
    Then Advance Network Settings
    Then open "network reset"
    and click "reset"
    Restart your computer

    restart router
unplugged your network router for 60 seconds
    then plug it back in.

    2. Uninstall the network driver and let Windows reinstall the compatible driver.
    Open Device Manager
    then under the network adapter
    Uninstall your network drivers' WIFI

    then restart your computer.
Open Windows Update and click Check for updates.

If that didn't work, download the latest drivers from the laptop Manufacturer's ASUS support website and install them.

    3. Please check these settings in the power options.
    Open and search "Power"
    Select "Edit power plan settings"
Click " Change advance power settings"
    Expand "Wireless Adapter settings"
Set both to "Maximum Performance" for both batteries and plugged in.

    4. Open "Device Manager"
    Then Expand Network Adapters
    Choose your Wifi Device
then right-click and click on properties
    Click on Power Management Tab
Uncheck "Allow computer to Turn off device to save power"
    Then Click Ok

    5. Open Command Prompt then Run as Administrator.
Type in each code then hit Enter

    netsh winsock reset
    netsh int ip reset
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns

    Once done, restart your computer.

6 Try to power reset your laptop.
    . Power reset your computer.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off
If it is a laptop with a removable battery, remove the battery for 30 seconds
then unplug your power adapter for 30 seconds
    Then power on your computer

    :)

Xbox live app constantly drops to 0b/s

    Hello Kim Mead1,

Thank you for sharing your concern here in Xbox Community Forum and we hope that all is well.

It appears that the issue of having slow download speed is happening while using Xbox app to download games or apps. Let us investigate on what is causing the issue and perform some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue. Rest assured that we are going to resolve the issue in a timely manner.

We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

    1. What is the version of Windows you are using? To check, press Windows key + R and type winver and click OK. You may send us screenshot to your next reply.

    2. How are you connected to your internet? Is it wired or wireless? Have you tried connecting your device directly to your router or modem and still experiencing the same?

For the meantime, we are going to perform these troubleshooting steps listed below:

    1. Make sure your Windows is up to date.

    • Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.
    • On Windows 10, select Update & Security. On Windows 11, select Windows Update.
    • On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available including optional updates for your device.
    • Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.
    • Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.

    2. Make sure both the Xbox and Gaming Services apps are up to date

    • Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.
    • Select Library.
    • Under Updates & downloads, check if there are any updates available for the Xbox app or Gaming Services app. If an update is available, select Update.
    3. Make sure you are signed in to the Xbox app and the Store with the same account.

    > To make sure your permissions for the game can be validated, be sure to sign in to both the Store and the Xbox app using the same account that was used to purchase the game.

    4. Uninstall and reinstall Gaming Services

    • Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
    • In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
      get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    • In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
      start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
    • Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
    • Restart your device and try to install the game again.
For your reference, see: Troubleshoot issues with the Xbox app for Windows | Xbox Support

If the issue still persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox app through these methods.

    1.Uninstall from settings

    • Press Windows + I to open Windows Settings
    • now go to Settings / Applications / Apps & features
    • type Xbox app in the search box
    • Click uninstall
    2. Reinstall Xbox app from Microsoft Store

    • open Microsoft Store
    • Under apps, search for Xbox app
    • click Get button to install.
    • wait for the application to completely download and install.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,

    PC Game Pass not working

this has still not resolved my issue. I followed your steps and the download still says 0b/s. It still can't be paused or cancelled and I can't launch any games through the xbox app because of it. Is there anything else I could do to try and solve my issue?

XBox for PC app fails updates, slow to download, totally unreliable, anything I can do to fix it?

So, no change. Warhammer 40K: Darktide needs an update. I'm looking at it and it's saying 0B of 43.7GB | 0B/s,

Looking at my Ethernet throughput in Task Manager I can see that very little is happening over the network connection. It's not even trying.

At the top of the GamePass window it says "Manage Installs Checking for updates..."
