Xbox Lagging, Even Though I have an Ethernet Connection

At this point it sounds more like you need to troubleshoot your ISP than the xbox because hard wired, you shouldnt be that low in speeds, like, ever. I would probably do one network test through console to see what happens but after that, start checking
your router and check with tech support for your internet company

Hello fellow Xbox players,

Since my Xbox doesn't receive the best connection, I switched to an Ethernet connection, and it worked out surprisingly well, but here's the thing: For the past week, I now have severe lag, even though I have the ethernet connected. It's to the point that
my download speeds are now KGB instead of MB, the typical thing of lag. Xbox parties, all games, and apps, all lag severely to the point that they sometimes don't work. I've used multiple trouble steps to help, but to no avail. Please help, as I can't play
Xbox and try to help my fellow Xbox players, so please help.

Can you please detailing out what those "multiple trouble steps" are, so that people trying to help can have a better understanding what you have tried so far (to no avail).

Sorry to hear about the current issue you are experiencing with the console lagging.

On your console head to

- Settings

- network settings

- advanced settings

- alternate mac address - clear

this will prompt your console to restart and helps will clearing the Cache.

Alternatively if you have no success with that you can do a hard restart and router restart.

To do the hard reset,

Hold your finger on the power button located at the front of the console, until it powers down. When it powers down unplug the console and wait a few moments, this is a good time to restart your router.

Once a few moments have passed turn the router on and plug the console back in.

Hopefully that helps with the system lag.

Yes, I've tried this with a PC, and it didn't have any issues. I think it might be a console problem, as I usually have over 120 MB download speeds, but I hit the KB speed, which is bad. The PC has the speeds as usual, but not the console.

I read "Xbox Insider" on your forum signature. Is your unit participating in the Insider program? If so, could there be any correlation to an previous update and the slow download speed that you're experiencing?

If go to your Xbox network settings and detailed network statistics and run this test a few times, what is your average DL/UL/ping (ms)/packet loss?

Do you see a similar outcome if you run the network test on the Xbox app on your PC?
