Xbox issue with all controllers

My son has said his controller has stopped working, but both of his controllers are doing the same thing... the d pad and LB and RB are moving a turquoise square around the screen... specifically when logging into youtube we have a passkey that are a sequence
of dpad movements...we cannot input this as just get the squares moving around. Both controllers do this, but both controllers work on my elder sons xbox with no issues...my elder son cannot get his controller to link to this xbox to test if his controller
has same issue. I have updated the controllers but this has done nothing.

has my son inadvertently changed some settings (he is 7) or is this a softwear issue?

Thank you...soft reset seems to have worked.

Hello Samantha,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. We understand that your controllers buttons are not functioning correctly. It is possible that the buttons were remapped in the controller settings. You can find these settings by going into your Xbox one settings
> Devices and streaming > Accessories > Configure

Try to reset them to defaults. If the issue persists, you may want to consider a
soft factory reset.
This will reset the operating system and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps. You (and anyone else that uses the console) will have to sign into your accounts,
so make sure you know the email and password before performing this step. This will also reset the home Xbox settings.

If you’re ready to reset your console to the factory default settings, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Select System > Settings > System > Console info > Reset console.
On the Reset your console? screen, select Reset and keep my games & apps

I hear you. I got the Day One edition and the left analog clicked if I moved it to the right. If you want you could sent it back for them to fix it, but it takes 1-4 weeks to get it back from what I heard. Plus the controllers cost $60 which is pretty expensive
considering they're already broken.

Tried that, didnt work. Controllers still wont connect. It is all four controllers, is it a controller issue? Feels more like the xbox?

If you have a wired charging kit for your controller I would say plug your controller into your xbox and this will automatically sync the controller to your xbox. Is this happening with any of your other controllers at all if you have any? It would be helpful
to know if it is a single controller issue or a console issue. Thanks!
