Xbox insiders shouldn’t be forced to install an update in the middle of a game.

I am not in the insiders program. My Xbox is up to date. I’m updating the controller right now and gonna test it out for a bit. Not updating shouldn’t cause drift though?

I'm in ASA Insider preview and do about 3-4 updates a week sometimes.

I also have power save mode but I'm in the habit of checking System>Settings>System>Updates and downloads or the Reddit XBox Insiders Forum for new releases everytime
I turn my console on.

This stops forcing the update when they become mandatory and your in the middle of playing a game.

Once you get used to checking, it becomes second nature and you don't get forced updates in the middle of a game.

I am a Skip Ahead Tier Insider and this can happen when an update becomes mandatory. Most updates have a small time period in which you dont have to install it straight away, but they also have a date attached in which the update become mandatory and you
must install it. When this date hits you, it will disconnect you from Xbox live and force close any game or app you are using at the time and start the update process automatically.

The only way around being disconnected without warning is to keep an eye on the Insiders Reddit and blogs where the mandatory dates will be noted.. and check your console for those updates appearing, update before it force you to.
