An automatic factory reset is a known result of the last Alpha Skip Ahead update if you are in the insider program. If you are please visit the insider subreddit to provide feedback there reddit.com/r/xboxinsiders

It is even less before a force happens to insiders. Also instant on, keep console updated doesn't always work. When seeing these issues, I automatically assume they are insiders, as auto update (as stated by OP) hasn't solved the issue.

Also it can be an issue if it a is pre owned xbox that the previous person did not remove, before selling.

Hi, as they say you can't have your cake and eat it, those insider updates are mandatory and will be pushed to your Xbox despite you having automatic updates disabled. Your only option would be to remove your Xbox from the insider program totally or drop
down to the Omega ring where updates may be less frequent. I'm in the Alpha leap ahead ring myself and those regular updates are just a part of being in the program which I expect and accept.

As XBF Brad A already mentioned, the last system update was from May 15th.

If you don't have your console on "Instant on" and the setting to keep the console updated automatically, your console will update the next time you turn it on after that update.

Also, if you are in the Insider Preview Program, you get updates more often.

If getting more frequent updates bothers you, consider moving to a "lower" Insider Ring, or completely opting out of the Insider Preview Program.

That way, you'll only get the mandatory monthly updates once in a while. Also, keep your console on "Instant on" settings and to keep your games and system up to date automatically. That way, the console will update itself when you are not using it.
