Xbox insider app re-downloads the entire game when a patch is out

Hi, not to revive this, but with the new GTA V patch, the issue has arisen again. The error message that seems consistant is that the game (Shadows of Mordor and Dragon Age Inquisition being other culprits) stops installing the update and asks for me to
inset the disk to continue, but in all cases I've purchased from Xbox Live.

Just last night I started the update at 2 am (late night unlimited, and since I don't know if it's just an update, or the whole game again I start it then) it was only at approx 20% this morning when I woke up.

THanks! I Just updated Sunset Overdrive without any issues, but I will try this next time I see a patch for any of my other games and give this a try.

Hey there, Declopy! That definitely doesn't sound like something that should be happening. Since it only seems to be happening when a patch happens, this sounds like something that isn't incredibly common for you. Even if that is the case, we still want
to find out what is going on. So let's see if I can provide steps for the next time this happens.

I suggest having your console set to
Energy-saving Mode until the next game has a patch. This will prevent it from downloading automatically. When you see that a game has a patch it needs downloaded and it's on your external hard drive, I suggest moving it to the internal hard drive first,
then launching the game to install it. This should only download the patch and not the entire game.

Now, if that's the case, we found that it could be one of two issues: Instant On, or the external hard drive.

To troubleshoot both of those, what we can do is turn Instant On back on (following the instructions on the link above) and wait for an update to happen to a game on internal hard drive. If it does not download the entire game, then we know there's something
going on with your external hard drive. If it is, please post back with your external hard drive's manufacturer and model.

If it does download the entire game, then we know that it has to do with the Instant On feature.

Either way, we want to make sure the right people know. Let me know once you're able to try this out, and we'll see what all we can do to resolve this for you.

Can someone from support confirm this? It is 5 days after the patch rolled out and I still don't have the patch, or if I do I never received any notice that I did receive it. Lots of users stated they saw an on-screen notification telling them the patch
was available and another after it installed. I HAVE SEEN NO NOTIFICATIONS WHATSOEVER. I re downloaded and reinstalled the entire game and STILL no update or patch.
