    Xbox Headset

    I have
    these     (ATH-PDG1), and they are fantastic. I like open-air headphones sometimes, and these are certainly the best ones I've found for the price - but I can understand why some people wouldn't like them. I used to have a pair of

    these     (Afterglow AG9+), but compared to the pair I have now, those felt so cheaply made (it was the plastic headband that snapped, actually) and didn't sound as good.

    Depends how deep your pockets are. I have Astro A50s latest gen and have found them to be pretty amazing. Wireless, great sound and a good battery life. I get 10-12 hours out of them. Certainly aren't cheap.

    I have the Turtle Beach Elite 800x, quite costly, but with great customer service, I've had then replaced twice in 3 years, (due to my fault) for free. They have great 7.1 surround sound and they're wireless too.

    Have those too, good headset but slightly small on the ears, for me. They are my backup set.

    I mainly use the Turtle Beach Earforce XO Seven Pro. It's nice and comfortable, even during really long gaming sessions.

    I had a set of old Turtle Beaches when first started online gaming. Their prices are affordable but the quality is lacking. Especially if you want something that will last.

    Then I got Astro A40s. I loved them. They are ridiculously high priced but they are a quality product that lasted for years. The one complaint I had with these was that they were pretty heavy to keep on your head for long gaming sessions. I think Astro has
    put out some cheaper/lighter models over the last few years that may have fixed that.

    Currently I'm on SteelSeries Arctis 5. I've had them for about 2 years now I think and they've been great. Super lightweight in comparison to the Astro A40s and the sound quality is great. There are a few different Arctis models from SteelSeries and this
    was the mid range one when they launched. Decent price for what you get.

    So basically it depends on what is important to you in a headset and how much you are willing to spend.

    I think the Astros have moved on as A50s are pretty light and sometimes forget I have them on. Build quality is far better than the Turtle Beach that I have, repaired them with super glue (crazy glue) a few times in the 18 months Ihave owned them.

    Yea my Astros were from years ago. I figured they would have lightened up their material by now.

    As for Turtle Beaches I won't touch those again. Not unless I want to buy a new pair every year.

    I use the Arctis 7 on my PC, I'd definitely recommend those too. The Arctis headsets are really comfortable and feel quite lightweight too.

    Does the headset work when the controller is connected to the Xbox?

    In the Xbox Accessories app (on the PC), does your headset show up?

    What type of headset are you trying to use? Is it a chat headset for Xbox, a phone headset...?

    I can understand your frustration with all the bad luck you have been having. And, for the record, I am not part of the Microsoft staff nor an Xbox customer support employee. But, I can say that we have 2 Xbox Ones and 1 Xbox One S, and 2 of the

    On each headset case, it says what the headset is compatible with. You have to buy a Xbox headset that's compatible with Xbox.

    Non-compatible headsets

    The following headsets are incompatible with the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter:

    • Mad Catz Tritton Warhead headset
    • Mad Catz Tritton Primer headset (Mad Catz offers an adapter for the Primer headset to convert the 2.5-mm audio jack to a 3.5-mm audio jack. Contact Mad Catz for support.)
    • The Xbox 360 Wireless Headset and Xbox 360 Wireless Bluetooth Headset
    • Headsets with this 2.5-mm connector will not work because of the connector format. This connector includes a long, cylindrical pin in the middle of the connecting side that does not fit into the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter.

    Hi Zathrus,

    We have two of the
    Xbox Stereo Headset     with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
    adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.
