1. Xbox Headset Wireless: Headset's game/chat audio mix dial does not work on Windows 11\10

FAQ page for the product says that Headset's game/chat audio mix dial does work on Windows when connected using Xbox dongle.

On any of my devices it does not work, in any game or chat. On my previous headset with the same feature I had 2 output devices available so I can control balance between them (I used one for Discord output and second for the game\rest). For Xbox Headset I see only one output device and not sure how technically it's possible to mix outputs.

Can someone explain how it works (should work) or confirm the driver bug?

    :)

Before you request a headset replacement, make sure that you’ve tried all of the following:

    • Checked your headset settings
    • Restarted your headset
    • Updated your headset with the most recent firmware

How to find your headset’s serial number

You’ll need to find your headset’s serial number to register your device and request a replacement. If you still have the device’s original packaging, the serial number can be found on a sticker on the bottom of the box. The serial number is also printed on a sticker located beneath the padding on the headset’s right earcup. To remove the padding and find the serial number:

    1. Hold the right earcup by the volume dial and gently pull the earcup padding away from the headset.
    2. The earcup padding will slip off, revealing the headset speaker underneath.
    3. The headset serial number is printed on a sticker below the speaker.

any ideas on head set chat mixer greyed out ??

Which headset is it? Some headsets plugged into the controller don't have changeable party mix settings...my Arctis 7 headset doesn't, although it does have it's own chat/game mix dial so it's not an issue

Can you use the Xbox one wireless headset chat mixer on PC if you have the usb wireless adapter?

    I have the same issue/question.

I am using a Microsoft Windows 10 wireless adapter (the smaller slim one) and have my Microsoft Xbox Wireless Headset connected to it, but have no clue how to mix game audio and chat devices.

My OS is Windows 10 Home

In the past with similar devices, the headphones show up as 2 separate output devices in Windows. One set as "default" device and one as "default communications" device. (Astro Mixamp Pro TR for example)

I have tried the steps listed above but "Open the Xbox Accessories app on your PC, and click on the "Xbox One Wireless Controller" device. From there, you can adjust the chat mixer settings to your liking." makes no sense, there are no chat mix options. The ability to chat mix should be the dial on the left side of the headphones.

Please explain how to use chat mix on PC (mixing volume levels of main output and chat output). Otherwise i will be returning this headset. The whole reason i got it is because it was advertised to have that feature (which is now starting to sound like its an Xbox One/Series exclusive feature)

audio mixing on xbox wireless headset

    Hello JoeKerr28,

Thank you for sharing this with us and welcome to Xbox Forums.

Based on the information you provided, you wanted to know if your Xbox Wireless adapter works on your Windows PC. To answer your question, the audio chat/game mixing feature should work on PC with the Xbox Wireless Adapter. However, there are a few things that you can check to ensure that the feature is working properly. Also, it requires Bluetooth 4.2 +, Xbox Wireless Adapter or compatible USB-C cable.

Then, make sure that your headset is properly connected to your PC via the Xbox Wireless Adapter. You can do this by checking the device settings on your PC and ensuring that the headset is selected as the default audio device.

Next, check the audio settings in the game or application that you are using. Some games and applications have their own audio settings that may override the audio chat/game mixing feature on your headset. Make sure that the audio settings in the game or application are set to allow for audio chat/game mixing.

You can also check this helpful link for further details: Xbox wireless headset FAQ

If you have checked these settings and the audio chat/game mixing feature is still not working, you may want to try updating the firmware on your headset. You can do this by connecting your headset to your Xbox console and following the instructions in this article: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help...ssories/update-xbox-wireless-headset-firmware

I hope this information helps! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Kind regards,

    Is the tritton warhead compatible
If the cable imput is only for audio then there would be absolutely no way for the mic to work on the headset to begin with.
The physical boom mic, or the chat audio?

This question/conversation is not about the physical boom mic, it's about the chat audio.
That said, there's no reason that the headset should work but not the mic, except maybe the protocols.
    It's the wireless
    protocol that won't work.

    See
    this wireless headset
? The only thing this wireless headset does is handle chat conversations between other Xbox Live members. You don't get regular game audio through it. To function, the wireless headset pairs with the 360 console and runs over the same
wireless protocol as 360 controllers. Tritton integrated the functionality of that wireless headset into their own. The Warhead's base station has a pairing button, just like the wireless headset. The base station takes care of mixing the chat audio and the
game audio, but without that pairing to the 360 there's no way to get chat audio into the base station.

Microsoft explicitly stated that the wireless protocol between the Xbox One and its accessories is different than the protocol used by 360 accessories. Because the wireless headset uses these same protocols, it won't work on the Xbox One. By extension, the
wireless pairing that the Warhead does with the 360 console won't work with the Xbox One console.

The Tritton Warhead is a headset designed for use only with the Xbox 360. Without a 360 console, it becomes a regular set of headphones, rendering the boom mic useless. If all you want to do is listen to game audio, that's not a dealbreaker.
If you want to talk to other gamers in realtime, you're looking at buying a new headset.

Astro? Turtle Beach? Their wireless headsets will work with the Xbox One, including their mics, because they all currently plug into the 360 controller for chat audio. The controller handles the wireless link to the 360 for the chat audio, but from the audio
port on the controller to the headset is all bog standard 2.5mm headset territory. MS is working on an adapter to allow older 360-compatible headset cables to attach to the new Xbox One controller, again allowing headsets to piggyback on the controller for
chat audio. The Warhead? Out of luck. No cable, no piggyback.

It's this tight coupling to the 360's wireless protocol for chat audio that caused me to ignore the Warhead's development and shipment to market. As soon as I saw that it was bound to the 360, I said this is going to end badly for a $300 headset. My Astro
A40s with a Mixamp 5.8? My friend's Astro A50s? They'll both be fully functional with the Xbox One.
