Xbox headset not working with other platforms

I have a similar problem except that my my cross-platform chat simply work work. They cant hear me, I can’t hear them. I got a new headset and the problem still wasn’t fixed. I can hear other XBox players but not PS4, PC or any of the other platforms for
Fortnite. All my settings are correct and I should be able to hear them. Maybe it’s just a Fortnite problem.

Good timing, I think. After nearly 3 months of telling me I had bought him the wrong headset, my son has just discovered how to talk to friends on other platforms, though it sounds complicated and he says he can't do it without other Xbox players being
involved.

He says he needs to joins an Xbox live party, then join in a game of Fortnite with other people from other platforms, then leave the Xbox live party, if that makes sense?

Fortnite has different options and settings available in game other than Xbox options. In order to access these, during any menu other than loading screen press the start button, then on the upper left-hand side of the screen you will see party up and
communication settings. It is here that some people opt to select console specific or console only chat. I'm not quite sure it is your settings, perhaps there's. Although these settings are worth a check.

Thank you, but as I said, I have pretty much put every setting to "Allow everyone" or the equivalent. I don't understand why I can hear them, but they can't hear me.

Unplug your console for 30 seconds and then plug back in
