I recently received a ban for sending a message to someone complaining about my apex legends posts, who in their complaint send me a large middle finger followed by the message [mod removed] I retorted with [mod removed],
followed by the text "here is a free rocket ship" I then promptly was messaged by xbox on my one and it read that my reputation had increased from avoid me to needs work, this is impossible considering my good reputation and only having one suspension, I then
received a 7 day suspension over it, how can one person who started an altercation get me banned for 7 days, when I have done nothing wrong aside from the message, and thats ridiculous imo, I tried to appeal it but simply put despite him giving me a giant
middle finger my rather modest rocket ship received a 7 day ban, if you were gonna ban me for 7 days and be hard nosed about it, at least make it for something good, not this, I've lost a great deal of respect for your moderation team.

The reputation is easy to get back up, The suspension side Sadly nothing we can do enforcement deal with that, it is better to just block and report rather than reply.

Not really defending myself but, a 7 day ban? I have had one other ban 2 years ago, and they said because of my history it would be upheld, but what history? One isolated incident 2 years prior?

The length usually escalates, doesn't matter how long it is between them really. If you have had a previous suspension, then you won't get a 24 hour one next time round etc.

If you break the CoC then you are subject to a ban. The appeals process is your only recourse.

What you might call a "modest rocket ship" was probably still considered bad in eyes of Microsoft. It doesn't matter if you were first or last, you still decided to send a message. You were most likely reported and now you know the report system works.
For future reference, the best thing to do would be to ignore the messages, report, block, and move on.

7 days isn't even that bad really. I've seen some first time offenders get 2 weeks. In the future never message anyone bothering you. The minute you do that it makes it so you're both eligible for a ban. Just report, block and let enforcement handle it
from there.
