    When I turn my xbox on the screen shrinks to show a top and bottom black strip which distorts the graphics.I have tried and tried many times to change the screen format on settings and it dose’nt work.Recentlenty it is doing it more and more and I can’t
    fix it and understand why

    have you changed the aspect ratio(zoom) on the tv as this will cause this.

    thanks for your response.

    We have a wide screen Samsung TV but haven’t had this problem at all for 2 years. Now I am getting it regularly - almost daily

    Hi,

    What display do you have your console plugged into?

    By what you're saying, it seems to me you may be using an ultra-wide monitor?

    Ultra-wide aspect ratio displays are not fully supported on the Xbox platform which means a 1080P screen resolution will have bottom and top black strips and the image will look stretched.

    Please confirm.

    We have a wide screen Samsung TV but haven’t had this problem at all for 2 years. Now I am getting it regularly - almost daily
    I agree with [Farscape]. It's probably not an Xbox issue, it's your TV. You've somehow changed the zoom or the aspect ratio settings on the TV.
