Xbox gold with game sharing

Are you game sharing or sharing Xbox live gold?

Unfortunately the information given to you is incorrect (unless Microsoft changed that behavior).

If a person uses a shared Gold membership on a console, they can only use the Multiplayer benefits and party chat on that console.

The account itself is actually a free account, and therefore loses access to the Xbox One games with Gold.

An account using a shared Gold membership can't get Games with Gold, won't get Gold discounts on game purchases and other Gold benefits.

They can ONLY play multiplayer games and participate in Parties on the console that is sharing the Gold membership.

The Xbox 360 games will remain available, as the Xbox 360 system doesn't know how a "rental" license works and can't be revoked.

If you "bought" a Xbox 360 game as a Game with Gold, it will stay with you forever.

Xbox One games with gold cease to function if you are not a "real" Gold member. Shared Gold will not enable you to these games.

Hey MsTheGamer290! To share Xbox Live Gold you will want the master account to set the family's Xbox console as their Home Console. This will allow all users that play on that Xbox to utilize Xbox Live Gold features and games owned by the master account.

You cannot share across consoles. Game sharing/Gold sharing is meant for sharing games on one console.

You will need two subscriptions. You may also have both profiles signed in on the console that’s designated as ‘Home’, this way, both parties can access the same games.

However, if someone wants to play on the other console and signs out of the one with gold sharing, they will no longer have access to the benefits of Gold sharing and would require a separate XBL subscription to play.

To clarify are you sharing your Xbox Live Gold membership via Home Gold, or are you referring to another user sharing their Gold with you? If you're the one sharing Gold, we'd recommend signing into the console you'd like to share your Gold membership on
and ensuring that it's set as your
Home console.

If someone else was sharing Gold with you, you'll need to reach out to that person to help verify that the console you're playing on is set as the Home console for their account.
