    my friend and i got messages from xbox live telling us we recieved $5 xbox gifft cards on the xbox app. we opened the message and it took us to the menu of the xbox app and we couldnt find the message. i checked on my xbox too and it wasnt there.

    Why can’t we use Microsoft account balance to purchase digital xbox gift card?

    Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards. The Microsoft account balance is essentially the same as a gift card since funds typically come from Xbox gift cards.

    There is xbox live game pass gift cards same with xbox live gold gift cards. Currency gift cards can't really play for subscription payments.

    You cannot use a gift card to buy another gift card. Such as Xbox. As it don't work that way. You have to either have physical money (like a credit card) to buy things on the Xbox store or buy an Xbox gift card in the stores.

    Again, you cannot do it with a gift card
