Xbox games from gamepass install but dont run after opening the desired app

Think i've finally sussed it. For anyone interested, this is what i did:

• Uninstalled XBOX App
  
• Cleaned registry with CCLeaner
  
• Logged into Microsoft Store app with my desired account (my XBox/GamePass account)
  
• Installed a game I owned (minecraft) from the Microsoft store
  
• Launched the game and logged in with my desired account (my XBox/GamePass account)
  
• Closed the game
  
• Installed XBox app
  
• Opened XBox app
  

...and voil , finally using my desired account.

I'm not sure if this behaviour with multiple accounts is intended or not, but I found posts going back to 2021 with this issue, so it's not a new thing and not something MS have fixed if it's not intended.

If you are listening MS, and I doubt it, just add the option to change accounts to the XBox app in Windows 11 like it is in Windows 10, It's not rocket science.

Yeah dont use the gamepass app

You go thru the my games and apps

Then manage my installs then games with gold

Not gamepass

May I know if you tried adding the desired account via Windows settings > accounts > email & accounts > under Accounts used by other apps

After that try switching accounts to see if you're able to finally use the desired one

If yes and if maybe that doesn't work please try and double check this:

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update

Click Check for Updates

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available (Install optional updates as well)

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services and update everything too. (Click on get updates)

Now, sign out from your account on both Xbox app and Microsoft Store and do this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset

Finally do this:

Step 1: Open the Run window by pressing Windows + R key.

Step 2: Input WSReset.exe in the Run window and click OK.

Step 3: Then a command prompt window will appear. After a few seconds, Windows Store will open.

Now try to sign in again on both Microsoft store and Xbox app with the desired account

quickest and easiest way to resolve this issue is start from scratch, clean windows install and run all windows updates then store updates then install xbox app then game services then redownload gamepass games.

Have you tried changing the installation path from either the Windows Settings or Xbox App settings to the desired drive?

If not yet try to perform this method, if you will get an error please screenshot it and share it here.

Open File Explorer

Right Click on Downloads

Click Properties

Click Location Tab

Click Move then your desired path.

Open the Xbox App

Click your profile icon

Go to Settings

General

Game Install Options

Then Choose the desired folder
