Xbox Games App and installed titles use CPU

Hi,

I tried Deep Rock Galactic and have determined that the Gamebar isn't reading the utilisation correctly.





MSI Afterburner reports my utilisation as:





Gamebar isn't looking at the overall CPU usage. It's a glitch in the app.

If you want to see up to date utilisation, you need to install and configure MSI afterburner.

The Above was taken on my machine which is an i5 13600K, 32GB DDR4 and an RTX 3080 GPU.

I experience this only when playing games through the Xbox app or the Microsoft store. Steam games and Epic games games work fine and don't use nearly as much CPU as Xbox games do. Additionally, Xbox games don't use my GPU at all. When running Deep Rock Galactic earlier today, my GPU was at 0% through the Xbox app, but on Steam, it was being used way more sitting at around 30-40%.

You experience this slower performance when playing a game or just having the Xbox app running?

Note that when playing games, Higher CPU utilisation is normal. The CPU doesn't just handle the game logic, it also draws the scene and sends the created frames to the GPU to be rendered. The CPU is used just as much in games as the GPU.

I wasn't using the gamebar to see my CPU usage, I used my Task Manager. Deep Rock galactic was just an example of a game that I had tried recently but this happens with every game I play through the Xbox App or Microsoft Store. External game launchers don't cause this problem at all.
