Xbox gamertag seems active and should be available

So recently I got the gt "Svao" on Java edition. My current gt on xbox is "".

I would like to take the gamertag "Svao" on xbox, but it is already taken. The current user has an xbox 360 like profile photo, indicating its an old account, and it has no friends, nor gamerscore that I can see. I believe that it is an inactive account.
I have also heard that Microsoft reserves the right to close all "inactive" accounts that have not been signed into in the last two years. I'd like to see if there is a possible way I could get the tag for myself as it seems to be unused currently.

Also, I just wanted to add because I know someone will bring it up, I do not want a # after my gamertag. I would rather keep my current than get a four digit number at the end that game users will see.

I can see that people have replied to this, but none of the replies are showing up. Thanks for inputs though! Hopefully they will start showing up in a while

The account may be inactive on Xbox, but could still be used on some other Microsoft service, eg Office, etc, etc. So the gamertag will still be used. If that's the case, then the account will not be removed and the gamertag not recycled. Your only options
at this time is to keep the one you already have, or create a new one for yourself.

If you are referring to a Xbox classic account, you can't recover one of those, you should migrated this accounts to 360, there was a process for that not currently available, and you mentioned you are seeing the Gamertag currently active, a few years back Xbox released inactive Gamertags for others to take, that's probably why you are seeing it active

Good day. I did all of that and activated Gameshare on the Xbox, but the skins are not available in the second gamertag 🙁

Really Microsoft, five years? It almost defeats the purpose of this new update to the Services Agreement. As I see in some of these other comments, if your Xbox profile is inactive for a whole YEAR, that should be the max amount of time a person should be
given before their gamertag is released. A year makes the most sense because that is the longest Xbox Live membership available. Five years is just too unpractical and unfair for active Xbox Live users who want more of an "OG" Gamertag but have to wait sooooo
long to obtain it. Reward the active users such as myself. Or hek, even have monthly or yearly Gamertag releases as you did last May. I don't see a reason why not to. This would benefit everyone. The active users get gamertags they want and you guys make money.
What's the problem?
