Xbox gamertag expirations

Many young Xbox users never had the opportunity to make a tag that was just a simple word or even a few random letters. Many of these names were taken by the few who were lucky enough to experience Xbox in its early stages. But sadly many of those few made tons of Xbox accounts quickly depleting the number of “cool” names. Many of these accounts are held by people who have moved on with life and no longer play Xbox or don’t even have an Xbox. Some of the accounts attached to these usernames have never even been played on. Now people who want these names try to buy them from other users creating a sketchy business that Microsoft had never intended. I believe that users at the very least should be able to see somewhat of a timeline of when some of these names will become avalible again to ppl due to the account being inactive. I believe a GREAT IDEA would be to take all the names that have never been used or have been inactive on Xbox for more than 2 or 3 years be available to pick, and HEAR ME OUT, if at any point in a year or 2 the user who had the original name, could log onto their Xbox and get the old name back. This would eliminate ppl buying old gamertags, and the ppl who decide to change their tags to an inactive tag that falls into the category that puts it up for the taking, would BE GIVEN A WARNING that this could be a possibility. I know this would please some players very much and the people who have “OG” tags are at no risk of losing their gamertag. If an inactive tag is taken it will be changed to a randomized tag and if they log back in at any point in the 1 or 2 year period after it’s changed they can get it back for free. The person who had changed their gamertag would get a randomized tag and a free tag change. I KNOW there are some kinks and stuff to work out. I know this would be a lot of work, but it would greatly improve the ever growing and changing Xbox community. Xbox is getting old and tags are running out. What will it be like in 10 years…20?
