    Xbox Gamertag Dilemma


    Im dealing with the an issue regarding my gamertag. I had my gamertag for a long time, and when I heard the new gamertag feature was coming out, I thought it would be a good idea to have a new name as long as it could
    be anything I wanted “as told”. Yet to find out I have 4 numbers next to the desired name indefinitely. So I then decided I wanted to go back to my original tag and guess what, it was 15 characters and 12 characters is the new maximum?! So me trying the last
    thing I had in mind, I tried switching my name back on my 360 thinking it would over-ride the new system. And at last, I was successful! Only to be in shock of the fact that once I signed back into my xbox one, I have 2 gamertags! My desired and original tag
    is under the new and unwanted one. In game I have the tag I want, yet on my friends’ lists, I am the undesired name. This is all confusing and very annoying, so please microsoft, can YOU help me? I know I am not the only one, Ive seen and heard of this issue
    from many others. Ive been a loyal customer of your service for 11 years straight, and I am only asking for this situation to be rectified for myself and the others. Once this problem is fixed, we will be able to go back to our enjoyable gaming homeostasis.
    Unfortunately until then, we will have to deal with the situation of not having a true identity.

    It is just a matter of waiting for the change to propogate through the Xbox Live servers, it can take a day or two. I'd recommend waiting for a few days, and if it still hasn't gone through, contact Xbox Support directly at https://beta.support.xbox.com/contact-us

    When you make changes to Gametag it takes time for game servers to update and sync with the new GT. I recommend that you take a look at this link and see if it helps you.

    All you can do is plead your case in the case review process through the enforcement teams website then they can determine if they can give you a chance to change your gamertag for free or not.
