Xbox GamerTag Change - unable to proceed

Discus and support Xbox GamerTag Change - unable to proceed in XBoX Accessibility to solve the problem; This morning, my gamertag was "" tried to change it to "gerbil" but was given "Gerbil#5470" To make the long story short, I can't even change it...     Xbox GamerTag Change - unable to proceed


    This morning, my gamertag was "" tried to change it to "gerbil" but was given "Gerbil#5470"

    To make the long story short, I can't even change it without paying the $9.99 fee.

    I have decided to update my Gamertag to "LT Gerbil"

    However, there's another issue. I live in Canada and I am unable to update & pay the $9.99 fee since, it's also asking to update my address. The "Country" drop down is grayed out and unable to change it.

    Do I even get a break and get this working and drop the $9.99 fee?

    Unfortunately no, the changing of the gamertag is universal for Xbox games to the profile. If you're unable to change the gamertag due to a time restriction then you'll be unable to have a different display in the games you play.

    Have the same prob.

    I created for MCC an account; created the gamertag as shown here "" it said that the gamertag is available - but after that, I got a different one.

    Since then, I'm unable to change the gamertag on the homepage.

    If I try to change the gamertag on the XBox Live homepage - there occurs an error and I'm unable to change it.

    It says, that I should try it later - i try it now since 3 days.

    You can only change your gamertag on the console.

    Unfortunately there is no refund system for gamertag changes. However if this is your first time signing up for xbox LIVE with this account then you may have the opportunity to change the gamertag for free. Sign onto the account on your xbox 360
    and proceed to the profile page, then select "Change Gamertag". Since the latest big dashboard update all new accounts to the service are able to change their profile name once for free.
