Xbox gamertag change is bugging with microsoft family features

Ok so having already changed my gamertag once I decided to change it again knowing that it costs 10$, After one of my parents put enough money on my account I tried to change it. Everything went fine, the gamertag was available but when I clicked change gamertag it said "Ask for permission first". This is weird because my family features settings enable me to buy stuff if I have the money for it without asking for permission *as long as it is under 14+*. As far as I am aware changing your gamertag is not 14+ content but whatever. So I click "ask for permission", Nothing happens, As many times as I click this A request email never goes through, I tried countless times.

What I tried to get it to work:

Doing a secure sign in and then "redeeming" my 18$ account balance (whatever that means) then trying (no luck)

Double checking all of the family features settings with my parents (everything seems normal).

So I don't know what to do

    :)

Xbox gamertag change is bugging with microsoft family features

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today Rqxnbow

Buddy, could you try asking your parents to disable temporarily "ask to buy" for you?
And give it a new try in that way?

Sign in to your Family page with an adult Microsoft account.
    https://account.microsoft.com/family/home
Find the child's name and select More options > Spending. Under the Ask to buy section, switch to Off "Needs organizer to buy things"

After that, if you're trying to do the gamertag change via Xbox Console, do this:

    1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable from the console and from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes.
Important: Be sure to wait at least 5 minutes. This step resets the power supply.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

After that, try to remove and re-add your profile on the console and try again

In case you need it, here's how to remove and re-add:

Destiny 2 PC game sharing not working since recent patch?

This problem lies within the "Microsoft Family" feature on the Microsoft Store. I had my cousin and my friend registered in my "family" and up until now, (March 24 hotfix for D2 respectively) we've been able to share the Destiny 2 DLC between accounts. I believe either Microsoft or Bungie is at fault, Bungie at fault for introducing a bug with the recent hotfix that doesn't allow shared content anymore, or Microsoft for fixing what I guess was not an intended feature with their family sharing. I'm not forgetting anything. Microsoft might not have anything to do with Destiny, but it certainly has something to do with the way content was shared, owned by Bungie or not, through the Microsoft Family feature.

Why can't we have cross save between PC and XBOX?

It would be a great feature to have and does make sense. With Obsidian being part of the Microsoft Game Studios family, it is a possibility especially if there was enough support for such a feature.

Connect Local XBOX Profile To Microsoft Account

    Hello Chris,

    Please follow these steps,

Only a parent using the Microsoft family group feature can change Xbox privacy and online safety settings for a child account. If you're having trouble changing your child's settings, make sure your Microsoft account is a parent account in a family group.
See whether you're listed as a child or an adult in a family group by signing in at account.microsoft.com/family. To change your child's settings:

    • Sign in to the Xbox settings page with the parent’s Microsoft account. You may be asked
to verify that you're the account owner. If you're having issues signing in to a Microsoft account, go to Microsoft account
      help
      .
    • Choose the gamertag for your child's account. If you want to update the privacy and online safety settings for the parent or adult account, choose that gamertag instead.
    • Select the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safetytab or the Privacy tab,
review the settings currently in place, and then update those you want to change.
    • Select Save before leaving or switching to another tab. If you don't save the changes before you move to the other tab, your changes won't be saved.
    • Have your child sign in and sign out of their account to make the changes take effect.

My cant have my gamertag normally.

Perhaps that gamertag is already taken? There is also apparently a bug with the gamertag system at the moment which is adding the suffix to the actual gamertag. As my fellow ambassador has said, if this is not the case, do contact Microsoft support as we
can not do anything here on the forums.
There is no bug with gamertags- this is just part of the new setup for gamertags that exist.

More infor can be found here. https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/change-xbox-live-gamertag

To OP might I suggest you try `Str0n3r` or other combinations
