    XBOX gamertag change failed


    Hello there,

    I am trying to change my xbox gamertag but everytime I try on my xbox one I get the massage that somthing went wrong and try again later.
    when I try via a browser on my pc, the page freezes when I press on claim the name.

    I've checked availability of the name and it is available.

    what could be the issue here?

    Gamertag not changing

    In this case, please try removing your account and then add it back. If the new gamertag does not appear, then I believe that the gamertag changing process failed. Would you please try changing it again.

    exact issue i have. support have escalated but they have not responded since. seems to be the payment option that refuses to load up have selecting change tag as you can still change the tags on accounts that have a free change available.

    Sorry for the issue you are experiencing.

    If you've tried multiple web browsers to get into the site but it has not worked then please try clearing the cache on all your browsers. You could also try accessing via an Incognito window. If this doesn’t work, you may want to follow the suggestion by XBF Diego M in this post if it helps.

    I've been trying to change my gamertag for a few days too. It says I have a free one because it's my first change with the new system (and actually my first change ever since I made the GT in the 360 days), but regardless of browser/incognito/computer/or even location (work or home), it will let me select the new tag, press "change", give me the "are you sure" popup, but then when I click "change gamertag" on that, it just closes the popup and nothing happens. I don't get any errors, just literally nothing happens.

    nope, first name change is free then all changes after still costs £7.99, i only changed mine last week which was the second time but wanting to go back lol.
